Thank you. Time to load the instruments for the Spanish Mass.

No flowers here yet.
We had over 13’ of snow this year, so it will take a while to melt.

I just saw that Charleton Heston died.
He did what he did well and became a legend... and, most importantly, he was a good man.
What a legacy...

Yep. He’ll be missed, if nothing else than for his contributions to NRA. But if he was anything in real life, as he was in the movies, we’ve lost a good man. But I like to think that Heaven gained one.

Yep. He just saw a way to get lots of money and “prestige” and I don’t wish him any bad luck, but I hope he chokes on the bones.
God MUST have a special place for him. I’d keep him isolated, somewhere, if I were God....;o]

I’m with you on heaven gaining a good one, and his family gaining a saint in heaven to pray for them and watch over them.
I think my grandmother has helped me more since her death than she did, or could, on earth... and that’s a lot!

‘Face, you should look in your library for Charlton Heston’s memoir, which is called “In the Arena.” It’s full of great stories about his long acting career and political activism. He seems to have been more fun in real life than in many of his film roles. He was a very fine man, who used his public prominence to do a lot of good.
Now if only that lovely Errol Flynn hadn’t been such a creep!

It’s a fun book, with lots of behind-the-scenes chat about how the movies were made. I think that sort of thing is neat.

It’s been sitting on my shelf since it was first published. One of those things I always wanted to get to, but now I will.
And, I can’t think of a better introduction for my daughter, to voracious reader, into non-fiction biographies.

Depends on how old your daughter is, and how many old movies she’s seen :-). It’s a very long book, and might not be interesting to a reader who wasn’t familiar with Charlton Heston’s movies or the other movie stars with whom he worked.

Cara’s 9. But she’s quite intelligent, and tends to view tougher books as a challenge. I think it’s a good opportunity for her to understand the importance of the passing of a great American.
I’ll give it to her tonight.

If she gets into it, she’ll be wanting you to head to Blockbuster for all the movies!

Not a problem.
I let her listen to my Close Encounters Of The Third Kind soundtrack CD, and she made me go buy the movie.
I get a real kick when she likes something that I have enjoyed so much. She’s a real blessing. A handful, but a blessing.

Dosen’t seem paradoxical to read a book about people who made movies?
Where the documentary?

What’s even more so is watching a movie about people writing books.
