I had to raise my bed with big bricks so I could put flat storage bins under it, and in the middle of the night, on my back from the bathroom in the dark, I hit one of the bricks.
Since I have peripheral neuropathy due to CFIDS, I didn’t feel the break. Next day, I was wondering why the top of my foot hurt. When I looked at it, my toe was all purple and swollen.
I felt it and watched it bend forward and backward, and decided I’d better splint it. So I did, using the toe next to it. It doesn’t hurt...

Can you put on shoes?

Well, sorta. I got my Birks on to give it some support. I won’t know about shoes until tomorrow, when I go to get my friend’s mother from the airport.
Like I said, though, it doesn’t hurt since I splinted it. Of course, I don’t even feel a foot cramp, these days, but I watch them....odd, that.

Have you got nerve damage in your feet?
You should be able to feel cramps.

It’s “peripheral neuropathy,” associated with CFIDS. If I’m in a bad enough relapse, I also lose feeling in my index fingers, middle fingers and thumbs. That, however, comes and goes.
Needless to say, I normally try to protect my feet with sox or Birks or shoes. But in the middle of the night?...

Unfortunately, if they have no backs, I walk out of them because I can’t feel them. My feet get cold, but I have to actually touch them with my hands to know that.
I’m probably more aware of my feet than most people, because I’ve cut them quite badly in the past, before I realized the sensation was going.
There are times, of course, when partial feeling comes back, but not in all areas, and not for long. So I “deal with it.” And buy shoes with sling backs or laces, or even boots.

8" of snow yesterday. It was almost all gone before the storm.
Luckily, it's melting fast...

Reminds be of “Lightning” by Dean Koontz. It was the first book I read of his, and it’s still my favorite, though the “Odd Thomas” books are a close second.
Excellent! Not too long a read, either, so one doesn’t get bored. As far as pure adrenaline in a book, his “Velocity.” I was almost in shock, but couldn’t put it down. Of course, when I went to read it again, I decided to do it in stages. NOT! Doesn’t work that way.

BWI -- the three-letter code for the
airport. In this case it's from Baltimore/Washington International. My home airport, SEA, is from SEAttle.
When you fly a lot you start learning the codes. On the West coast I'm not infrequently in SEA, SAC, OAK, SFO, SJO and LAX. My connections to the East coast are usually through MSP, DTW, MEM, HOU or ATL (rarely PHX or DEN). A savvy flier will spot my preferred airlines from this info.
Furthest from home is BLR (Bangalore, India).

You’re missing a lot! He isn’t like Stephen King, who likes to creep people out.
He likes to take a situation and go one step farther...not to the point of “give me a break!” but more like, “hey, I always wondered about that!”
Get “Lightning” at the library or borrow it. Or “Odd Thomas.” “False Memory” is good, but a little to real for me. (read: scary!)
