This statement may ring true for MANY educators, however, such a blanket statement like this smacks of over-generalization and marginalization of people who perform a noble and invaluable service to our society. Aside from this comment, the rest of the article is spot-on!

The work of teachers is no more noble than hundreds ( likely thousands upon thousands) of jobs that make the very life and continued existence possible.
I for one find this “Mother Teresa” complex ( the “noble and invaluable service” ) of teachers a tad irritating. I bet if you gave it a minute's thought you too ( a teacher) could think of at least a dozen professions that if eliminated today would result in the death of millions of children by tomorrow.
