PART V - JUST SAY NO: To John McCain -- PRESERVE the TWO-PARTY system

PART FIVE -- in my JUST SAY NO SERIES: KeyWord: JustSayNo2JohnMcCain

In response to the FReepers who think they should "HOLD THEIR NOSE" and Vote FOR McCain.. I ask you to reconsider this option, unless you want to completely DESTROY the two-Party system and move our party so far to the left that the base is completely ignored in ALL FUTURE ELECTIONS...

While I certainly respect your opinion, and your right to vote FOR McCain, please understand the many of us who make up the conservative base just CAN’T.. no matter how many times we “the Base” hold our nose and vote for the “R” just because the “R” is better than the “D” we ALWAYS seem to get ignored, and taken for granted.. the RINO’s assume that all of us on the “right” will vote for the “R” and therefore completely ignore us.. well as you can see many have chosen to either vote 3rd party or sit it out because John McCain is TOOO UNACCEPTABLE to support.... My issue is, that I support the TWO-PARTY system very strongly.. and I have decided to vote for the “D” because I really don’t see much difference between the “D” and the “R” if John McCain ends up being the “R” for 2008.. I say hit the reset button for 2012... In the meantime pray that there will be enough conservatives in congress to keep Obama or the HildaBEAST in check until then..

The Rope-a-dope won’t work if the other side is overwhelming. The liberals have Congress and will have the Supreme Court if we retreat to regroup.

Your thinking couldn’t be more off the mark. The purpose of not voting for McCain is to prevent a Socialist candidate from becoming President. You defeat that purpose by voting for Clinton or Obama. You will only have a Socialist President with a Socialist controlled Congress thereby accerlating Socialsim in the country. A Socialist is a Socialist regardless if he or she is from the GOP or Democrats.

The way I see it my FRiend.. voting FOR anyone other than the “R” IS ONE VOTE FOR THE “D”... voting for the “D” is TWO VOTES AGAINST the “R”

sorry my FRiend.. the liberals may have the majority, and even if the KEEP the majority.. we only need 41 STRONG CONSERVATIVE SENATORS to bring everything to a screeching halt... a four year filibuster is just fine with me... we can then try again in 2012 to get an acceptable “R”

After reading several stories about the possibilities of the Dem convention this year, I have a thought about a possible scenario (it would probably never happen, but just think for a minute):

1. Hillary tries to steal Dem Nomination via the super-delegate-smoky-bacroom route...and succeeds.

2. The Caucus turns raucus and splits the DNC along mostly racial lines.

3. Going off on a tangent, the pro-Obama forces form a another party to get their man elected. (Listening to the pied pipers of Sharpton and Jackson, blacks forgo voting Republican)

4. Conservatives, emboldened by the move, rally support for a GOP convention coup de tat, and attempt to topple McCain from the ticket.

5. The Establishment Repbulicans hold sway over the convention and keep McCain.

6. The conservative delegates march out of the convention and coalesce around their candidate.

7. As a result, AMericans get to choose between 4 POTUS candidates, two funded by party machinery (not as much, but still funded) and two funded by their respective grassroots.

I know this is rather involved speculation, but it is worth thinking about.

Peace.

with GOD all things are possible... we need to preserve the 2 party system IMHO.. this is critical to conservatives having any power whatsoever.. conservatives ARE the majority.. unfortunately we can’t decide who is the BEST conservative to support... which is how we ended up with McCain... the GOP must quit ignoring the base..

NY Times was forced by The New Republic to release the McCain story TOO EARLY. This might knock McCain out of the nomination which might then go to a conservative...Mitt Romney.

Ok, conversely I grant you the title of Obama supporter.

Sorry David, while I appreciate your strong feeling on this, and understand the disgust and anger with McCain...I know this:

1) Any ground we would lose with McCain (and there is very critical ground we will lose with him which disgusts me) will also be lost, and perhaps much more, with either Hillary or Obama.

2) We have a good chance of maintaining ground with McCain as regard the war, the SCOTUS and on abortion (particularly as it pertains to the SCOTUS).

I am unwilling to ceed that other ground. Not because I like or support McCain, but because American blood is on the ground, soaking into it, on both those issues and I cannot let it be shed in vain by allowing a much worse catastrophe in the form of either Hillary or Obama take the reigns. In four years they could deal devestating harm to the war effort, our military, and prevent us from (after 35 years of hard work) from achieving a majority on the SCOTUS and set back that effort 20 years or more, and thus prevent the overturn of Roe v. Wade and therefore cause the loss of million of more innocent lives.

In the war effort, millions more American lives could easily hang in the balance.

Therefore, I will do all I can to get Hillary and Obama defeated and the only viable avenue to that goal right now is McCain. I also believe there is at least a chance that we can influence McCain much more than we ever could either Hillary or Obama.

I am digusted that I am in the position to give him my vote. It is not a vote "for" that man. But it is a critical step to avoid what I consider to be an even much worse disaster where we not only lose some ground, we cede all ground. And I can't do that.

I understand and respect the reasons of those who feel differently. It is a very difficult election cycle with very bad choices. I have made mine for the reasopns so indicated unless something significant changes in the mean time.

Let’s see how this plays out. This could knock McCain out of the nomination and after that all bets are off. We could still end up with a conservative (Romney) nominee. Right now I’m in the waiting mode.

I really appreciated reading your rational response to David Osborne who is actively campaigning against the Republican Presidential Nominee at a time when Democrats control both houses of congress and both Democrat nominees are Leftists.

David Osborne has declared he is voting for Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton.

Barack Obama is the farthest to the political left of any current Senator. Hillary Clinton is a virtual communist.

There is absolutely NOTHING principled or conservative about actively campaigning against the Republican Presidential Nominee at a time like this.

Actually, it is David Osborne who is the Republican-In-Name-Only. He is the erstwhile Republican, who votes in a Republican Primary, votes for all other Republican candidates, and then actively campaigns against the Republican Presidential Nominee, trying to encourage others to help him elect a Democrat President. If that isn't a RINO, I don't know what is.

David,
Respectfully I disagree with you. The Republican Leadership Council supported by the Millions they get from Corporations and to a lesser extent the Unions have the influence to keep true Constitutional Conservatives from being much covered. On the media it is mostly McCain Most of the time. This amounts to billions of dollars in inkind donations because they don’t cover equally the Presidential Candidates. They shut out Ron Paul. Whether you agree with him or not he is legitimately running for President. When he finished fourth in a Primary the media would report the top three even if the delegate count was winner take all. If he finished second they only reported who won! He finished ahead of Rudy several times yet Rudy was always treated as a front runner until he dropped out. Notice how wrong the polls were about Rudy’s standing!

The Leadership Councils (Dem and Rep) and the Media are manufacturing the presidential race. The RLC owns the Republican Party lock, stock and barrel. The base can do all they want, they aren’t going to get anywhere because true conservatives that run will always be suppressed. The only way to combat this is to grow from the Ground Up! You have to take this country back one town, city, county at a time. Granted it can be done in parallel but it must be done from the bottom up! You will always get leftists from both parties from now on out. How far left are you going to continue to accept? Was Duncan Hunter covered anywhere near the level of Rudy???? Rudy is a liberal so he gets the coverage. A growing from the bottom up third party is the only hope of the Conservative Base.
