Oh Lord, Let It Not Be John McCain - A NonRinos's Prayer (Vanity)

Yet, if he is the Repub's candidate, please, give me the strength to vote for him.

Yes, Senator McCain is better than Hillary and Obama, but has our country slidden so far left that we can do no better than this Bob Dole redux?

The NY Times loves him. Arnold loves him. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe love him. Talk about bad company. The past performance of John McCain as war hero does not indicate his future success as President of the United States.

Unfortunately, as a former Catholic and long time Bapticostal, I was mostly taught that Mormonism was a "cult." This undoubtedly hurt Mitt right out of the chute. The more, however, I delve into the doctrinal intricacies of some non-Mormon denominations, they could also be accused of doing some really weird things which I will not go into now. Would Romney bring these cultic(?) practices into the White House? Would hidden holy underwear be a great bother to his performance? Bill Clinton brought in a whole lot more in the form of his bacchanalian rituals which provoked incoming President Bush to fumigate and replace carpeting. Its fair to assume, though, that Clinton was a Bino - Baptist in Name Only. Could Romney, as has been taught by my fellow fundamentalists, really be Satan's representative? I think not, and the more I compare Romney with the Episcopalian turned Baptist (he has not been fully immersed, yet, which is obviously very important to Baptists) McCain, old Mitt is looking much better.

As of now, on the eve of Super Tuesday, I am in Mitt's corner, and not because of the shrill, super conservatives who have been boring me to death on talk radio with the McCain badgering.

Scariest of all - McCain has pledged to "reach across the aisle" to Democrats. What, the Dems can never reach across to Republicans? John McCain has too many negatives on immigration, taxation, freedom of speech retarded by McCain-Feingold, objections to oil drilling in Alaska, hoodwinked by the global warming scare tactic people, treating terrorists like "average American Joes" in Gitmo and elsewhere, allowing Dems to deter judicial nominees, and Clintonesque temper tantrums.

Despite his foibles, I generally have liked John McCain for his heroism and so-so conservative voting record. [I would take anyone over Hillary and Obama at this point]

Let this cup of John McCain for president pass, oh Lord. Amen.

I’m sorry, I fail to see the humor in wishing someone to go to hell like that. I don’t like McCain, but I wouldn’t wish it on him, nor on you.

I laugh at jokes. I laugh at Romney’s candidacy. I don’t laugh at folks wishing others to go to hell. It’s not funny. Sorry.

It’s a joke, wheather you think it is or not. Your interpretation is off. When the writer of the joke tells you the interpretation and you don’t agree that doesn’t change it’s original intention!

While you think Romney is a joke, that is for you to say.
I don’t think it is a joke, McCain saying he is a conservative is a joke,
Huckster is a joke,
this whole election is a joke.

Did I miss anything??
Freerepublic is a joke,
The Republicans saying MC Cain is a conservative is a joke,
daffy duck is a joke,
Obama is a joke,
illegal aliens are not a joke they are for real.

"illegal aliens are not a joke they are for real."

I should know. I live 20 FEET away from them. I want every last one of them deported, either by force or by their own accord, and I want their employers in prison. That I'm serious as a heart attack about.

If the topic is Reagan being adamantly pro-choice before he was pro-life, like Romney said he was, thats 100% crap. Reagan was never pro-choice.

I don’t remember Reagan ever proposing nationalized health care while Governor or POTUS. I also don’t remember Reagan ever demanding special rights for minority special interests.

Back in 1966, after he defeated his primary GOP opponent, liberal San Francisco Mayor George Christopher and after he smashed Democrat Governor Pat Brown, Reagan was faced with governing California. The states economy was in worse condition than Reagan had been informed. It took some tax increases, along with “spending cutbacks” and use of the line item veto 943 times, for Reagan to get a handle on budget matters. Once he got California on sound financial footing, Reagan balanced the budget and created hundreds of millions of dollars in surpluses. Reagan went over the heads of the legislature and spoke directly to the people. He decided to return tax surpluses to taxpayers in rebate form on four different times, totally over $5,000,000,000 --- OVER FIVE BILLION DOLLARS. With adherence to tight fiscal policy, Reagan left office with a huge surplus.

Reagan also did a good job with issues of racial unrest, anti-war protests by college students and welfare reform. On the last item Reagan encouraged Californians to write in their opinions on idex cards to their state legislators. This ultimately lead to reductions in the state welfare rolls, through "tightening eligibility standards and eliminating loopholes".

Reagan's eight years as Govenor of Californa were successful and we all know what happened later in 1976 and 1980!

He looses any conservative election, because he is a corrupt party aparatchik and no conservative - his voting record speaks better than anything else.
No war hero, if you ask me. He just got shot down and made the antiamerican statements, that his captors make him do ... what a disgrace...
