Our Michigan primary ballot contained a write in slot. Course our ballot also named Brownback and Tancredo as candidates.

Just remember, write in is not the same thing as 3rd party candidate. I will not vote for a 3rd party candidate; however; I am all for writing in and I believe enough people out there are so against John McCain; they would do this. Or participate in some viable method to bring Hunter back on board.

I’ll see if I can find the article again and post it. It was from 2004 and maybe the Atl Monthly.

In any case, they drew a distinction between primaries and actual.

It’s in the actual that many states are not required to count write-ins of names not approved by submitting the proper number of petition signatures. I don’t think it was very many names, but it still had to be done.

you still have to register to be written in, that was made abundantly clear by the media leading up to the primaries, “don’t vote for obama/ edwards your vote will be discarded”
