Every conservative is gone from the race now and Fred proved he had no stomach for a fight. He was behind after a few rounds and didn't even come out to see if he could win a last round knockout. He was a stalking horse for somebody, in my opinion. He froze up conservative money through the early campaign season and dissuaded dark horse conservatives from testing the waters . . . and then dropped out after campaigning in one state. Thompson has screwed up everything he's touched in politics . . . from his crushing of Nixon with his "what did you know, when did you know it question" through Howard Baker, to his campaign finance "reform" with McCain, to his botched 'leadership' of the Clinton impeachment, to his 2008 candidacy that ousted every true conservative from the race. Free Republic Republicans got suckered. I will add the perfunctory, in my opinion. There. I feel better.
Also, the idea of old man Fred as a VP candidate is plain stupid. We already have seen what we get when we make an uncharismatic older guy with health problems VP . . . which is that we get absolutely nothing. Cheyney just left us without a presumptive nominee and a main challenger to him in this race. We end up with a media driven campaign and RINO's running the show.
IBTZ
No kidding....
The problem with this theory is that Fred didn't emerge until LATE in the campaign season.
Where were these dark horse conservatives who were supposedly willing to undertake a run for the presidency early in the process, before Fred appeared on the horizon?
You probably think he should have just dropped his sick mom on the side of the road huh? Man has his priorities right, family first.
I don’t think so. I think I’m right. Fred has burned conservatives at every opportunity.
Impressive conspiracy theory. I’ll bet you voted for Ron Paul the first day early voting commenced in Florida.
Saint Fred will forgive you for you know not what you do.
FRed didn’t start too late; the others started too early.
Fred was being discussed all of 2007 (as I remember it). From January on. Why would a little known (nationally) Governor jump in if he was afraid a conservative celebrity would just make mincemeat of him anyway? I think he froze out money and candidates.
Your 15 seconds of fame is up. Now, go back to your handlers at DU and tell them how brave you are.
I’ll vote Guilianni in Florida hoping to confuse the delegate situation enough to try to get a conservative dark horse selected at the convention.
He sure didn’t do us any good.
Sorry guys, you’ve all talked to me for months now. No DU, no ZOT. Fred Thompson has flubbed everything he’s touched from day one in politics, if you are a conservative. He’s done great if you are an “establishment” type.
And please allow me to add the perfunctory IBTZ.
Someone is going to be Commander in Chief for a couple hundred thousand young men and women being shot at right now, who would you suggest?
