What you described — a bail out of failing businesses — is ananthema to conservative principles. Certainly when the problem can be solved simply by moving the plants to right-to-work states.
Toyota is doing fine — in San Antonio.
(Oh, and BTW, I got rich by buying companies with other people’s money and investing in oil when it was $8/bbl. And I didn’t need a government hand out to do it.)
Don’t get me wrong...I am totally against gov’t handouts, including corporate welfare. IMO the main reason for troubles of GM/Ford is unions. But there are a million people making a living in Michigan on auto related business. Besides there is all that infrastructure to make auto’s. It won’t be easy to move all that to a right to work state. I confess I don’t know details of Romney’s plan. But knowing his background as a highly successful turn around artist of businesses, I have more faith in his idea’s over any other politician.
