What Is Bush Thinking? Ask Fred on 2nd Amend. Rights

My readers all know that I am a strong supporter of President Bush even though he has sometimes taken actions that leave me baffled. I am talking about such things as signing the McCain-Feingold bill, pushing for the No Child Left Behind legislation and involving himself in the Terry Sciavo case. Last week Fred Thompson made a statement about the upcoming Supreme Court review of the overturn of Washington D.C.’s outrageous gun control laws that also left me baffled until I looked into the matter.

What has happened is that the Bush Administration has, unbelievably, filed a brief in this case asking that it be returned to the lower court for “fact-finding”.

I noticed that due to FRed’s superior intellect and exemplary legal experience he was able to field an opinion immediately.

None of the others have. Huck, especially, is not able to grasp the difference between being an avid sportsman who think we should be able to own firearms, and the legal right to keep and bear arms.

FRed gets it!

The right to keep and bear arms has nothing to do with hunting. It is the last right of the people to protect against tyranny. It's the last great check and balance.

An armed population is a free population.

Anyone who even hints at messing with the 2nd amendment should be looked as an enemy of freedom, imo.
