McCain was Fred’s close ally in the Senate.

Wake up!

I like the way you think. May I ask..are you a boomer, a jonser or an X-er?

I'm beginning to think the R boomers are selling us down the leftist river because they spent too much time with free love and drugs to get their nest eggs in order and now they want us to pay for it. I'm about to start a younger Republican revolution.

I think the GOP establishment doesn't want a limited-govt. candidate because too many Pubbies and their corporate clients are now on the take from the govt. Agribusiness wants ethanol subsidies, for one example, so ag-state Pubbies give it to them, in exchange for $ which guarantee their reelection. All the unConstitutional agencies are a source of thousands of appointed jobs, which can be filled by faithful Party hacks. So no Repubs except Paul (not really a Repub. anymore) actually call for eliminating those depts.

Also, all the people in govt. from either party have gone to the same educational system, totally dominated by the Left, which feeds them lies about "living, breathing" Constitutions. So the whole population moves steadily to the Left. I keep telling people that the capture of the media and the educational establishment by the Left is the most important development of modern history, and the one which will doom the country.

Because it is now saturated with globalist supporters as well as moderate Rockefeller GOP liberals. Year after year conservatives run and what do we get? Poppy 1000 points of light and no new taxes Bush loosing to Clinton in what should have been an easy second term. Poppy told the Reagan base to kiss off. Bob let the liberals run the convention and turn off the base Dole. GW Me and Mr Gore are not that far apart on most issues Bush. And today? The three best conservatives last according to the MSM who ALL FREEPERS say they loathe but yet fall faithfully in line to do as they say support what? The Most Liberal Choices Offered yet once again.

Insanity is doing the same mistakes over and over expecting different results. You reap what you sow moderates and you sow LIBERALS for the DEM. When will you people wake up?

This is the first good article I have read about the Republican candidates. Although I am a Duncan Hunter supporter; rather than Fred Thompson supporter; he makes some very good points.

Our rivals including our own party want us divided so they can choose our candidate.

The question is are we going to let them do it.

My answer is no.

The GOP leadership wants a nanny state because those leading the GOP are essentially not real people. Just look at the GOP in congress. Just look at the GOP in the media. Why in the world I still have a subscription to the National Review is a mystery to me. It will be cancelled.

Fred is taking it to the people, the ones who are supposed to be running this country. I think his strategy will pay off in Iowa.

If the MSM did not fear Duncan Hunter, he would get more press. Thompson gets it, but with a dismissive layer and often mildly scornful; both men are way too conservative for their purpose. True conservatives decisively detest the liberal BigMedia creation of McRomnianibee, so reppublicans in general are in disarray and gridlock. I think the GOP is divided beyong repair and it is time for a Third Party to rise from the ashes. Why not, why not a revolt starting this first day of 2008?

Hunter. Thompson would be ok, as he's had a change of heart on a couple issues since his Senate days, but Duncan is still our best hope for a "limited government" conservative to win the General Election.

As pointed out in the article, the rest are just "Democrat Light".

I agree. The willingness of so many Republicans to capitulate on traditional, bedrock conservative values and principles is truly scary!!!

As the Gipper so eloquently stated,,,,

"So, it was our Republican Party that gave me a political home. When I signed up for duty, I didn't have to check my principles at the door. And I soon found out that the desire for victory did not overcome our devotion to ideals".
--Ronald Reagan remarks at the Republican National Convention in New Orleans, August 15, 1988.

However, after this last election, Chuckie Schumer proudly boasted,

"The Reagan Revolution is dead"!!!

When you look at how many Republicans are willing to 'throw the base (with its long-held, conservatives values and principles) "UNDER THE BUS",,,,,can anyone doubt that what Chuckie said is absolutely correct???

Because that’s what Republicans do.

They are so busy trying to make their enemies happy that they’ll no longer stand by their principles or tehir friends.

Why Does the GOP Want a Nanny State

Because the voters do. Next question?

The contrast is that [Thompson] is not willing to 'do anything and say anything' to become president. I like that, a lot. I don't want to rely on government, only myself. I don't want to pay for able bodied Americans who rely on government.

I want a stable economic environment where fees and taxes are low so I can compete and prosper and chase the American Dream.

Sweet music, and like all good music, fundamentally true. It's simple and true and crosses "party" lines especially today: the more people have to deal with government meddling in their lives and businesses, they more they resent it. Let Republicans offer a true alternative in political philosophy and see what happens.

Its hard to be optimistic, while being a witness to the downfall of the republicrat party.I have been watching this party give in ,and give up ,for twenty years or more. The Democrap party has never been so vulnerable ,as they are now. They have absolutely no issues to win an election. But I don’t think the GOP wants to win ,I believe as long as the congress stays equally divided, no matter who is in charge, the charade’s will continue..Has the GOP started any campaign against the global warming hoax? Has the GOP had any voice in drilling for oil, building nukes, using coal?Has the GOP exposed the NEA on this fraud called education?Where is the GOP on illegal immigration? And the list goes on.Oh,I forgot, these issues are conservative issues ,they wouldn’t’t want to make the RINOS feel not welcome would they .I’m sorry it slipped my mind, they bring LOTS of money and you can still hang the GOP banner on them and celebrate a victory.Have you noticed ,the more conservatives we get in the media the more the GOP lays down.Look how far we have come in twenty years.Rush was the only voice .Now with 24/7 access to a conservative somewhere,we are still statistically tied?Somebody help me out here..Is the GOP addicted to second place? And then, go to a local county party meeting ,around here its all local, they haven't a clue about the national scene.Or state scene for that matter. We voted out Dewine while the state and county party endorsed him.Go figure.Ill be happy to send a dime to an individual conservative candidate but not to a bipartisan GOP.
