Can't he still be Jewish too? Ethnically Jewish? As in with a mother who is Jewish, circusized on the proper day, etc.?

Maybe this thread isn't the right place for this old question. I've read a few discussions between Jews on this subject and it can get ugly. It's that thing about whether being Jewish is religious or ethnic or some gradation or combination of the two. They've had a number of debates over the years in Israel over this.

If he were a Jew who became a Quaker or Unitarian, he't be an apostate Jew, a heretic, barred from religious participation in the Jewish community. IMO it's a fraud, he doesn't in any way represent a Jewish position as legitimate as an excommunicated Catholic establishing Catholics4RonPaul. He should be honest and set up Quakers4RonPaul.

I doubt you saw ugly confrontations between Jews on this issue, more likely with non-Jews who don't recognize the right of Jewish denominations to determine what constitutes a Jew.
