Unfortunately for the analogy, Louisiana is in the South; the whole United States, on the other hand, is a mixture of many different demographics, interest and ethnic groups, etc.. While I think we can win with a conservative, it will probably have to be a better known, more pragmatic candidate, such as Fred Thompson. Hopefully, a President Thompson will find a place for a man of Congressman Hunter’s conservatism, patriotism and military background in his administration.

The fact that Fred’s immigration record is almost identical to John McCain’s (neither of them received anything higher than a C from Americans for Better Immigration) or that Fred voted AGAINST impeaching Bill Clinton will bother a LOT of people when the generel election comes around.

I don’t know. the last time we had real landslides we ran an unapologetic conservative pro-lifer who wanted to reshape the world order.

Fred Thompson is an apparent conservative but his record seems remarkably soft and full of little contradictions.
