I like the cover better than the original!!

So do I. This strikes several cords for me though. The Brazilian, Seu Jorge, played the character of Pelé dos Santos in "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou." I love the querky Wes Anderson films featuring Bill Murray. The theme of man dashed down from the heights yet in the end showing the pluck to storm the heights once again greatly appeals to me.

Plus, I was stationed in the Azores, Portugal where my daughter was born so the language still intrigues me. Portuguese, with its, often noted, melding of Spanish and French, has a more pleasant sound than either of the other two.

Brazilian writer Olavo Bilac poetically described it as a última flor do Lácio, inculta e bela: "the last flower of Latium, wild and beautiful".

Additionally, I feel that Brazil has the potential to be a mirror of the USA in the Southern hemisphere. I'm more attuned than most people to Brazilian/American inter-cultural occurrences.

Same here. Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, and The Royal Tenenbaums are among my all-time faves. And Mark Mothersbaugh does a brilliant job with the soundtracks.

All good videos. I think we saw that movie “Rushmore” a while ago. I’m sure GEORGE slept through it, though.

Love, Martha

Eddie Cochran was cool. He died way too young, but his music lives on.

Blue Cheer

Stray Cats

Maori folk songs are, to me, very Celtic, no?

According to the sometimes unreliable Wikipedia, “The tune of “Pokarekare Ana” has been borrowed for an Irish wedding song “A Mhuire Mháthair sé seo mo ghuí”.”
