That’s funny, I don’t seem to recall your support for Hunter. But it was a nice piece of drama.
“Even if Hunter can win the primary (a big if)... it seems like he probably doesn’t have the appeal to win the general.”
Hunter, and most of the candidates, have more appeal than Hillary. She is not liked.
Hunter is very personable. Did you see him on the PBS interview last evening?
It is because you haven’t looked very hard.
“FR doesn’t select the Republican nominee.”
No one group selects the Republican nominee, or the POTUS. But FReepers are powerful.
And we conservatives need all of the groups on our side to WIN!
HELLO...I didn’t support ANYONE because I was UNDECIDED. I corrected several people who were uninformed about several different candidates by providing them with FACTS since I was studying THEM ALL to see WHICH candidate I WANTED to support. I did that as I am a big proponent of truth over rhetoric, a skill which YOU apparently haven’t seemed to master yet. Get over yourself already.
“Honestly, some Hunterites sound like Paulites.”
Duncan Hunter is a conservative, and Ron Paul is a LIBERALtarian, who doesn’t support our troops and blames America First, even though jihad has been going on centuries before the U.S. was even born.
HUNTER got us ABS deployed in Alaska, and HUNTER built up the defense that Bill Clinton tore down, and got equipment and weapons to protect our troops, and our country, when he Chaired the House Armed Services Committee (when the Republicans had the majority), and HUNTER went to Iraq FIVE times, and HUNTER did some tough fighting duty in Nam and won a medal, and HUNTER has a son who did two tours in Iraq, including Fallujah, and is now doing a 3rd tour in Afghanistan, so HUNTER has a lot a stake personally, as well.
Thats just a little bit of what HUNTER has DONE, while the other candidates talk or write articles.
The very powers that you speak of are trying to tear down Fred Thompson and all you are doing is helping them by spreading fear, uncertainty, and doubt about a think-tank. That’s not being part of the solution.
I repeat: the establishment didn’t choose Fred Thompson. We did.
LOL. Sure thing MENSA
“the establishment didnt choose Fred Thompson. We did.”
NEWSFLASH: Guess you didn’t hear. We have NOT had the primaries yet.
It is still early, and anything, but anything can happen.
Why not support the most conservative candidate, Duncan Hunter, and even IF voters are not wise enough to vote for him in the primaries, you can still support for whoever does win.
Just now folks are starting to pay attention - the fun is just beginning!!!!
Support Duncan Hunter NOW!
lol, and then you will hold your breath until you turn blue.
If that were true, Hunter would have had all this support before Fred talked of running.
He didn’t.
Why not just make a rule that Fred's record can't be posted. Because that is all you've read from Hunter's supporters.
That's the lamest excuse I've seen yet, but I guess it's better than, "but he's an actor! We gotta vote for him!"
Well...let's see...if 75% of Hunter supporters will refuse to vote for Fred...that's 0.75 X 1% = 0.75%.
I think Fred can overcome that.
Paperdoll...you’re spiel is getting old. And I say this as your FRiend.
You’re assuming that all of Thompson’s voters on FR would go to Hunter.
Even though I prefer Hunter’s policies ... I’d be more likely to move to Romney or Huckabee than Hunter. No, they’re not perfect. No, they’re not even as good as Hunter. But, they’ve actually got a chance at winning the nomination from Rudy ... Hunter doesn’t.
Its never good for conservatism for conservatives to rally around a hopeless canidate.
H
Just now, according to POLITICAL ANALYSTS, the most voters are paying attention.
As they watch the debates, and listen to interviews, voters will see that Duncan Hunter is the most conservative candidate, and will support him.
This is all about getting more of the same. The squishy middle, as Republican guru Grover Norquist put it. Someone who will play Mr. Globalist, and carry on with the same stupid policies we’ve fought for 6 years.
It’s beyond disgusting.
If moderates, or conservatives who have lost their nerve, continue to support moderates, it will be the end of conservatism (what there is left of it).
Moderates have taken over the Republican Party for the most part, and we conservatives have to have the guts to bring conservatism BACK to the party.
Go Hunter!
