ST. GEORGE A police officer who was recorded berating a motorist earlier this month has lost his job.
The board of aldermen voted 5-0, with one member absent, to fire Sgt. James Kuehnlein on Monday. The vote was cast in a session closed to the public and wasn't announced until Wednesday, when a notice was posted at the City Hall of this tiny south St. Louis County community.
In a video that got wide viewership on the Internet, Kuehnlein taunts and threatens motorist Brett Darrow, 20, sometimes shouting and using profanity, after questioning him in a commuter lot near Interstate 55. Darrow posted the footage of the Sept. 7 incident on the web.

He used his turn signal six seconds into the clip that the transcript is take from. You claim that clip starts when he turned on the camera. Are his hands anywere near the camera at the beginning of the clip?
See my post #388. He started recording six seconds before he hit the turn signal.
The cop was set up. Geez Louise. At least you can admit that much. It doesn't affect what happened later.

Anything there you disagree with? By your account the only thing the cop did wrong was get caught.
I apologize for suggesting you said the words above, you did not. But if my words may still suggest some sort of disrespect for your brand of petty facism to your delicate sensibilities, please, by all means, report me to the moderators. You will prove yourself the equal of the cop in the parking lot.
You're willing to call a man a liar based on that? Or do you feel safe in doing so because he was caught lying about other things?
I enjoy pounding on him every once in a while. All his buddies (Kevin Curry, Roscoe, Arne Fufkin, et al) have long since been tossed off the forum. Those clowns were just as entertaining.
You obviously believe what I said in #357, otherwise you wouldn’t be threatening the man who found out the bad cop with your “dangerous game” rhetoric. I’ll ask you again RP. What exactly is dangerous about recording the bad behavior of cops?
Then he would have put on his turn signal at something like 03:00:06 rather than 0:06.
You’re right it wouldn’t affect what happened later. However, we don’t see his hand move away from the camera. We don’t have any reason to believe that it wasn’t recording earlier, but rather he just chose not to have us watch him drive for 10 minutes.
You’re right it is a moot point in seeing that the cop was a real bastard.
However, it is relevant as to his motive. I tend to believe that we are only seeing the relevant part of the video as the rest would just put us to sleep. However, I can’t promise that he used his turn signals in parts we didn’t see if that makes you feel any better.
His lying about other things makes it easy to impeach anything he says.
St. George is one of the most notorious speed traps in the St. Louis metro area. God help us if the police had to investigate a rape or murder.
Oh I remember them. They were always good for a few laughs. Great chat to drink by.
Now what do you think he's going to say? Tell me you're not that naive.
"and the Chief of Police confirmed his version of events"
The Chief of Police asked the girlfriend. The girlfriend confirmed the version of events.
"Yet somehow you can sit in front of a keyboard and claim to know better than the people on the ground."
My theory makes 10X more sense than his "facts". Did you read that story of his?
"because they feel the need to make events fit their predispositions."
Occam's Razor, my friend.
Apparently only to you. Again, viewed through the lens of the cynical hubis of a professional bureaucrat.
Well, I thought the protocol was that if you referenced another poster they were to be copied.
Are you now saying that the protocol's been changed and that we are only to copy another poster if we are accusing them of something?
Maybe. Then again, maybe not.
ROFL! You're advancing conspiracy theories, and you claim Occam's Razor supports your views? Too funny!
"First of all we have people try to commit suicide in here. We have car thieves come in here. We have people break into cars here."
No "recent rash," no "high crime area." And he never once comes back to this. Instead, he repeats several times that he doesn't need any reason at all to pull somebody over, or to demand pat-downs on pedestrians.
According to the articles, this cop either violated procedure by not taping with his own cameras, or he did tape it and destroyed evidence after the fact. He is very lucky that he only got fired and is not facing charges.
The cop's behavior is 100% indefensible.
