Just Shut Up, And Thank All The Little People

It was bad enough watching Sally Field have a senior moment and lose her train of thought (video link) midway through her speech accepting an Emmy for lead actress in a drama series ("Brothers and Sisters"), but when she finally remembered what she wanted to say - "And, let's face it, if the mothers ruled the war, there would be no (bleeped expletive) wars in the first place" – The Stiletto couldn’t have been alone in wondering whether she has Alzheimer’s.

In the 60-year old actress' own lifetime there have been three female heads of state – all mothers - who did not hesitate to wage war to defend, or advance the interests of, their respective nations:

Golda Meir, a founder of the state of Israel and its Prime Minister from 1969 to 1974, was the mother of two children, Sarah and Menachem. The original "Iron Lady," Meir was at the helm during the 1973 Yom Kippur War between Israel and a coalition of Arab countries led by Egypt and Syria determined to take back the Sinai and Golan Heights, which had been captured by Israel in the 1967 Six-Day War. Israel prevailed, and the war paved the way to the Camp David Accords, which led to normalized relations between Egypt and Israel.

Prime Minister of India for three consecutive terms (1966 to 1977) and for a fourth term from 1980 until she was assassinated in 1984, Indira Gandhi was the mother of two sons, Sanjay and Rajiv. In the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, Gandhi backed East Pakistan against West Pakistan, which led to the creation of Bangladesh. Three years later, India developed a nuclear arsenal to counter the threat from Communist China. During Gandhi’s watch, India became the dominant power in the region.

The sobriquet "Iron Lady" was reprised for Margaret Thatcher, who served as British Prime Minister from 1979 to 1990 and is mother to twins Mark and Carol. In 1982 when Argentina invaded the Falkland Islands, Thatcher dispatched the navy and recaptured the British territory in a decisive victory.

Forget osteoporosis. Fields’ agent should immediately phone the Aricept people to set up an audition.

Nice set of facts. But we all know that when facts conflict with Lieberal fantasies, it is the facts which have to give way.

Another aging actress who just wants to be relevant.

Years ago they liked her, now she wants them to really, really, really like her.

Now that I think about it. Sally’s speech could give Miss South Carolina the edge in a debate.

I want to take time in this reply to personally thank Sally Fields for showing the people not only she is an idiot but revealing the lunacy of Socialists who are out to destroy this country.

At first, it appeared that she was speaking extemporaneously. Then it became apparent that she had memorized her speech and was just acting it out.

The willful ignorance of those feminists who blithely state that if only women ran things, how kinder and gentler things would be always gives me pause.

For anyone who knows anything knows all the great women of history were reknown for their fists of iron: Pharaoh Hat-Shepsut, Empress Theodora, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Queen Elizabeth I, Catharine the Great, right up to the twentieth century... you won’t find “kinder gentler” types in power.

Obviously, Sally Fields snored through history class. And ironically, anyone who believes as she does cannot possibly vote for Hillary because all PC mau-mauing aside, self preservation dictates that you have to vote for someone who is tough enough to keep you and your children safe from harm.

Sally’s voice set my nerves on edge...I really pay little attention to anyone from Hollywood or who is in movies, or the entertainment business anymore.

After hearing the entire audio, I couldn’t help thinking she sounded like someone who was being put in a straight jacket. Just leave the stage Sally before you need someone to help you off.

Sally is just another uneducated Hollywood leftist who thinks they are smart enough to intelligently comment on everything. Other fine examples: Babs Streisand, Madonna, the Baldwin boys, Angelina Joli etc. Most of these folks were lucky to finish high school and very few graduated from college yet they hold themselves up to be renowned experts on everything from global warming to world affairs and economics.

When I see Sally Fields today I don't think of the flying nun character so much as I remember her as the Communist organizer harpy, Norma Rae. Standing on that table in the textile mill and shreiking at the top of her lungs is a role she obviously still plays.
Some Hollywood types never seem to get beyond their favorite roles.
Even at 113 years old, David Caridene is still wearing his “Grasshopper” outfit and hawking yellow page ads!

The willful ignorance of those feminists who blithely state that if only women ran things, how kinder and gentler things would be always gives me pause.

Many - maybe even a vast majority of women are kinder and gentler than the average man. But women who follow those natural, nurturing instincts aren't going have the will to ascend to positions of power, either, nor to hold on to them for long unless they start behaving like Margaret Thatcher.

Western democracies are the only governmental systems which would ever allow Patty Murray types into positions of apparent power, and in a genuine crisis they wouldn't remain there for long. It's an aberration of the Pax Americana that has been in place since the end of WWII. We can play such games in our safe little sandbox between the oceans - but it might not last forever.

Didn’t Golda Meir say something like “There will be peace in the Middle East when these mothers love their children more than they hate the Jews”?

I know a guy who had to pick up Sally Fields at the airport and bring her into town. He said she was extremely mean.
