Council on Foreign Relations One World Conspiracy or New World Think Tank?
Capitol Hill ^ | Sep 10, 07 | JB Williams

Posted on 09/10/2007 5:20:14 AM PDT by PlainOleAmerican

Since the U.S. Federal government has become increasingly independent minded, often openly acting directly at odds with the will of the people they are sworn to represent, American voters are becoming increasingly interested in finding out exactly who their government is taking orders from, since it clearly isn’t them.

Conspiracy theorists from far left political ideologies to far right and all ideologies in between have developed numerous theories as to what international powers our government might be taking orders from and why. Among them, the Council on Foreign Relations (1), the Rockefeller’s Trilateral Commission (2), the Bilderberg Group, Rhodes Scholars and the Illuminati.

(snip)

There is no question as to how much influence CFR has on members of the U.S. Federal government. Federal policy making can indeed be tracked and aligned with advice coming out of CFR. Whether CFR is nothing more than a non-partisan think tank, as it describes itself, or a leftist One World Order shadow government as described by conspiracy theorists, is the open question on the table.

It seems we’re all left at this stage, for now:

“Since the U.S. Federal government has become increasingly independent minded, often openly acting directly at odds with the will of the people they are sworn to represent, American voters are becoming increasingly interested in finding out exactly who their government is taking orders from, since it clearly isn’t them.”

With the internet, buffoons denying the CFR, Build-a-Burgers, and Trilaterals have been relegated to being some old-time Idiots.

I don’t know...

I have seen lists with his name on it, and lists without his name on it. I know that, like all formidable leadership figures, he was invited to join. I know he received advice from CFR as a Senator, as all members of the Fed have and do on a regular basis.

But I have not been able to find any verifiable member list that includes his name???

Have you?

You mean, the credibility of many conspiracy theorists is in doubt??? LOL - I can’t wait for the average American to figure out that Wikipedia isn’t a real encyclopedia....

If I were a big wig American politician I’d be a member of the CFR. New World Order, Old World Order, allies, old statemsmen, whatever. It’s a source of information and contact with a lot of very knowledgeable people. It’s not like they drug the water in the pitchers at the table and brainwash the members.

If you or I were big wig national political leaders, we couldn’t escape the influence of CFR if our life depended on it. They are deeply entrenched in public policy advice at the federal and state levels.

If one researches all of the initiatives and where they are involved on a day to day basis, one will realize that this “think tank” is a group of high-level “thinkers” from all ideologies, working to develop the most sound policy positions available.

One will also realize that they are not always right...

..Ameican voters are becoming increasingly interested in finding out exactly who their government is taking orders from...

Probably whoever brings the largest bags of money to the politicians table. Simply due to the fact that in modern times they cannot get elected without that money. And as the saying goes, nothing is free. Just ask Hillary's Chicom bag-men what they expect from their American Queen.

The simple most obvious answer is usually the answer... BRAVO!

Most Americans in fact oppose abortion on demand. But the pro-choice lobby spends four times that of the pro-life lobby in Washington DC, so guess which squeaky wheel gets the grease?

There are countless examples, of course. Start with the “separation of church and state” lobby, who has managed to convince a Christian nation that religion has no place in public discourse...

"As a result, no public list of CFR members is reliable, and even if it were, NOT all CFR members share the same global views or political agendas. Some are indeed "One Worlders," while others are, in fact, "New Worlders" - the opposite of a One Worlder. At the end of the day, being a member of CFR, by itself, means nothing. We must look beyond simple membership or affiliation to discern an individual's beliefs and motives. It's not the equivalent of belonging to the Socialist Party USA. In fact, we must look beyond words and organizational affiliations in general, to discern their beliefs, motives and agendas. We must look at their actions and activities."

Damn good advice, but it would require too much intellectual effort. It seems that there are always those who wish to take the intellectually lazy route of lumping people into the same ideological boat based merely on membership in an organization.
