I understand your logic in saying that we should NOT kill prisoners.
However, we are not talking about lining them up just to shoot them.
These Marines were on the offensive and had no means to stop and take names and no people to take them to the rear.
That means, if the prisoners live, they have to be guarded or given medical attention at a time when Americans need to fight and give medical attention to Americans.
In this case, and in all cases like this, the life of a prisoner is not important. If the squad leader choosess to let them live and be unguarded, they can easily return to combat against the Marines.
And that would be a fatal mistake.
Killing prisoners just to kill them is murder. Killing prisoners because the combat situation demands movement without restriction is not murder.
It is literally an US vs THEM decision. And I choose US.
So did this Marine, and he was right.

I’m going to quit parsing words. NCIS would rather they’d have let them go and our Marines had been killed. NCIS would rather the enemy lives. Traitorous, seditious vermin.

If you don't understand the nature of our enemy, you don't understand why we are in Iraq. Post of the ages, Red. Would make a great poster for DC

If the Navy and Marine Corps. brass had some balls they would be carefully enquiring into who in the NCIS are allowing these meaningless charges to be brought against our Marines, and put a stop to this stuff. NCIS personel should be put on notice that they had better not put any Marine through this stuff or face lossing their jobs.
And where is Gates in all of this. Do all these court martials etc., pass the test in his eyes. I bet if Rummy was still in, we would not be seeing all this crap come to past.

Hmmm, makes me wonder, did the Secret Service questionaire ask if Weemer
witnessed an illegal killing or
witness or hear of an illegal killing.
If it's the latter, they'd be asking his imagination to put together bits and pieces of events and/or conversations that Weemer could only have had minimal attention on as a battle raged about him.....3 years prior.
