The fact that their op income remained almost unchanged vs. Q2 of 2006 says they’re cutting costs left and right to offset the loss in revenue. That’s a short-term strategy that will make it ever harder to regain share in the future. Maybe Murdoch should keep his checkbook handy.

Ok, but please, everyone, let's get a grip. It doesn't matter HOW MUCH money these morons lose. They are in the same position as the 1840s newspapers, which is to say, 100% subsidized, in effect, by a political party (actually, the same party), the Democrats. Elite corporate libs (and even RINOs), in an effort to show they are "caring" and "concerned" and "hip" will continue to allow the news divisions of the television networks and the newspaper subsidiaries lose money hand over fist because they are doing a "public good" (i.e., Dem propaganda.)
It's like the local multi-millionaire whose trophy wife has a little dress boutique that loses a ton. HE DOESN'T CARE. IT'S NOT ABOUT THE MONEY IN THAT CASE. (Sorry to shout, but the obsession with posting these losses is like listing casualty figures for a Chinese infantry attack.)

And yet, CBS execs have lashed themselves to the SS Liberal Titanic and would rather go don with the ship than offer any conservative alternative. You would think any half-wit at CBS would come up with a novel idea to have conservative input in their whole news gather organization, or, how about a sit-com that poked fun at liberals? Wouldn't that be TOTALLY unique? Nope. Won't do it, so down with the ship they go.
