By evidence of powder burns on the person shot and by the depth of the wound, my brother was murdered and that's how I know how they figure out such things. He was shot at almost point blank range and had evidence of powder residue on his palms of his hands, he instinctively tried to cover himself.

I think they tried extrapolating information from pictures and whether they thought there were powder burns in these pictures. Not really sure, anybody else know more?
