Democrats Celebrate the Lie that Sweep Them into Power
"Everybody in politics lies, but [the Clintons] do it with such ease, it's troubling."-- David GeffenIf you think Democrats are going to end the war youre as stupid as they think. Its all to get your vote, you remember that the Democrats promised that if you voted them into power in 2006 into both houses of Congress they would end the war in Iraq. That was just an empty promise so that they could gain power. Cindy Sheehan is so upset that shes declared herself an Independent and has vowed to run against Nancy Pelosi!
All of a sudden Democrats who you elected to control both houses of Congress cant get enough votes to force the President to withdraw troops. Theyve got plenty of excuses but no action.
But heres the sad truth, they knew before hand that the Senate is set up to protect minority Senators rights therefore a small majority cannot change anything. They couldnt have told you that before the 2006 elections because you would have thought, well why should I vote Democrats in to power?
Think about it, for the twelve years the Democrats were the minority they effectively obstructed a Republican controlled Congress from passing any substantial and meaningful legislation. So much so that the Republican lead Congress was named, The Do Nothing Congress.
Democrats knew before the elections that a small majority would not be able to keep the promises that they made to the American people but they campaigned on false promises anyway hoping that you didnt know. And you gave them both houses of Congress in 2006 and you dont even understand how big of a fool youve been played for.
Democrats are not going to stop the war thats why Sheehan is so hopping mad! And even though the leading Democrat Presidential candidates say that they will and even though it is recently popular for Democrats and Republicans alike to call for the end of the war they know full well that they are not going to. Its election time and theyre just telling you what they think you want to hear.
Just listen to Hillary or Senator Clinton bifurcate on the subject:
"If we in Congress don't end this war before January 2009, as president, I will,"Senator Hillary ClintonBut in a newspaper interview Senator Clinton said: WASHINGTON, March 14 (UPI) -- U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., says she would keep a reduced but significant military force in Iraq if elected president.
In an interview with The New York Times, Clinton said there were "vital national security interests" that would require U.S. troops to remain in Iraq.
She said the troops should be used to fight "al-Qaida, deter Iranian aggression, protect the Kurds" and provide some support to the Iraqi military.
Senator Obama agrees with Senator Clinton. But both are campaigning on ending the war.
You do know that the Clintons where infamous for this kind of stuff. Saying one thing and then doing another. Some might call it bait and switch, some might call it politics but why dont we just call it as it is, LIES!
Have you learned anything from eight years of a Clinton administration? I bet you still think that Bill didnt have sex with that woman Ms. Lewenski!
All this Democrat talk about ending the war is just to blow smoke up your rear. Everyone who is saying it is using the issue to get reelected or elected as President.
Cindy Sheehan knows it.
Maybe shes not as stupid as she looks
and whats your excuse?
Hillary will get us out of Iraq, just like she did Bosnia /sarc.
A little off topic, but a parallel to this is the immigration issue, where “big business” supposedly pushes for open borders, when in reality it is the last thing they want. They don’t want to pay decent wages or more importantly, full benefits to those they aren’t paying them to now. FWIW.
Anyway, off the soap box there. You make an interesting observation, but the reality is that very few congressional or senate elections have been treated by those who are running as national elections. So to draw conclusions as if it were is more than a bit deceptive. A better phrasing for it would be ‘celebrating the Democrats winning enough local races to have the majority’.
As for the rhetoric from the rats, well, it’s a joke, isn’t it? On their supporters. ‘We’re against the war’, they chime in, yet when you look back to when Clinton was president, before and after Saddam started paying the families of terrorists, the majority of the call for entry into Iraq with ground troops came from the Democrats, and virtually no one called for combat against Afghanistan.
That folks swallowed the media fueled lie that the liberals would discard their deeply held beliefs for a fly-away from Iraq just goes to show that PT Barnum was right - there’s a sucker born every minute.
Another poster brought up the amnesty legislation. An awful lot of liberals campaigned on that, on opening the doors for ‘undocumented Americans.’ I still don’t quite understand where in their base the support comes for this - unions can’t be thrilled at the idea of more illegals coming here, or this so called path to citizenship - more pressure to drop wages, or to break unions. Teachers would face even more students for the same salaries, and police more criminals.
But, hey, they’ve got their get out of jail free card - They didn’t fail to fulfill campaign promises, they were obstructed by those mean old Republicans. So if you just contribute more, why, gosh, we’ll magically make them go away and all the happy dreams can begin. Yeah. Right.
The only way they’ll end the war is if they can blame the failure on Bush and the republicans.
I think that is why they are rushing for a pull out. If they win in 2008 and retain both houses it is their war. They will own it. Since they know they do not have the skill to win a war they want it over before take control.
