If this is really the worst that the DNC can come up with then Fred Thompson may be a problem. Tough talk on the Russians and bad mouthing the French is not going to upset the average voter. Bad mouthing Mexican immigration could be down right popular. Unless we can find something a little more current than the S&L fiasco we may have to hope that he stays out of it to protect his kids from the press.

I may not like his position on other matters, but I agree with him that there needs to be a significantly tighter control on the southern border. The mexican workers themselves are not the problem; after all the mayority of them provide useful services. Its the uncontrolled reproduction of their family members that became US citizens and inmediately entitle their mothers to collect social benefits for the child as they see this as a right. Theyve learned very quickly that the social services of this country are fraught with the ineffectiveness of the morons that administer them.

Fred Thompson is making a huge impact among Democrats and the elite Republicans. Hmmm...he must be okay!
The Dems are terrified that Thompson will come out of the box looking a lot like Reagan, not politically, but in the popularity contest that is politics.
Seasoned citizens (as Rush calls them) will vote for him because they all love Law&Order and will love his southern “down home” appeal. You know he will win the south, and the fly-over red states will also identify with him and his personality. And those who don’t give a rip about politics might vote for him because they recognize him (don’t laugh, there’s those who would do that).
Scary....if the Dems agree with him remind me again how conservative Republican he is.
Why do you all think that it’s a “good thing” that dems agree with him?
Since when did Dimmycraps believe in free speech in teh first place? Tehir entire party has been Klintoonized and the Klintoons are totalitarians at heart.
P.J. O’Rourke is right: Liberalism is Communism sold by the drink.
I’ve never known liberals to believe in free speech in all my years of dealing with them.
Afte 8 years of president Bush, I would not vote for Fred Thompson, or any Republican, to save my life. However, my political disposition is no excuse to sit by while this article attacks his comments. I say this as a Democrat, as an opponent of strict immigration policies, and as a Mexican-American dual citizen who lived in Mexico a quarter of his life: He Is Absolutely Right
WOW. Thanks for the ping!
