Exactly!
Everything about a candidate affects whether one will vote for him or not. Thompson will make decisions based on his experience as a Globalist, being a Neocon, and the fact he was a Lobbyist.
And all those things are what will concern voters a lot more than because he is a southerner and a actor, although it's not something that can be ignored either.
“Thompson will make decisions based on his experience as a Globalist, being a Neocon, and the fact he was a Lobbyist.”
But...but...everyone says he’s a conservative! He used to guest host Paul Harvey’s show! Doesn’t that prove it?

If he’s a committed conservative he’d have voted against McCain-Feingold to begin with. If he believed in his oath to uphold and defend the Constitution, he had his shot. The people pushing him are desperate for someone to carry the GOP torch besides the front runners, and seems pretty obvious they’re pouring their own opinions into his empty suit, just as they did with Colin Powell, Schwarzkopf, Condi, and so many other also-didn’t-runs.
Further, candidates should attend debates. Thompson has that strike against him, too, that he’s ducking to avoid committing to the platform so many here so fervently wish he supports.
No more Souters, no more compassionate conservatives, and no more stealth candidates. The GOP will nominate a proven conservative or it won’t get my vote. I won’t get fooled again.
