A big 'Thank You' to this dermatologist for speaking up about cancer causing HPV being found on the fingers and hands. Would that all such Doctors plus ophthalmologists, opticans, etc. also speak up about all STDs being found on non-sexual areas.

The Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), Herpes, Chlamydia, and Gonorreha can be transferred to the eye with Herpes and HPV also being found in the nose i.e. sinonasal inverted papilloma. Tested HPV types found in the sinonasal IPs are, "HPV 6/11-positive was present in 41% & HPV 16/18-positive was present in 31%."

1 in 300 with Chlamydia also have it in the eye.

Use terms like "HPV +ocular OR eye" also "manual-genital" or hand-to-eye.

At a minimum, we all need to wash our hands with soap and water after touching any possible STD sore. That can happen when "feeling up" or putting on or taking off a condom or when using the bathroom. Shouldn't that be basic 'safer sex' and health information as Doctors do wash their hands before and after touching a patient don't they? IMHO washing hands is much cheaper than the cost of the HPV vaccine and it will protect from so much more. This is not a sign of fear so much as a detour sign.

Hand Saniter manufactures say that eye contact may cause irritation and to flush the eye with water for 15 minutes if such contact happens.
