Thanks...
Jeff is a good friend of mine... have a picture of his beautiful family on my fridge... our wives are close friends too.
I got an email from him this weekend, his faith in God and his spirits remain high.
I have a hard time believing that he knowingly did wrong... that’s just not his character... a more honest, God-fearing man would be hard to find...
Be sure to tell the lieutenant colonel that the whole country hasn’t gone crazy. There are plenty of us who stand behind him.
Let your friend know that he’s in our thoughts and prayers.
Keep us posted.
He sounds like that kind of person, even without your testimony. I think he's getting caught up in a nasty mess of Monday-morning-quarterbacking, the fog of war, and the desire to have at least someone take the rap for something.
Someone once said, and I firmly believe, that if you're truly innocent, you're better off being tried under the UCMJ than a civilian court. From my own observations, "command influence" is easier to get away with in civilian courts.
I'll continue to pray for justice for him.
Please relay to LtCol Chessani that there are Marine families behind him, praying for him and his Marines. We pray he’ll stand tall, stand behind his Marines and these charges will be proven unjustified for all.
To me that is very nice. I have seen way too many times people pull away from people who are in trouble and ignore them. Some weird feeling of worry that they will be involved somehow. Anyway, if it comes to light that he did do something wrong (hopefully and probably not), but that is the time he will really need you and hope you will be strong enough to be there for him even if you are disappointed in him.
