Well, yes...but you can’t deny FReepers their justly due moment of irrational patriotic outrage, just because the facts don’t fit. ;)
Gladly!!
But the BorderBots, the amnestyBots, won't allow it.
Well said : )
Miss USA’s score on her catwalk seemingly reflected the fall, so it is not as if she was not penalized for the fall. She hopped up and continued with grace.
I don’t think that is true, here area a few of the scores from the catwalk:
Venezuela 9.5
USA 8.7
Korea 9.1
Mexico 7.8
Argentina 7.6
Angola 8.4
I realize this whole performance is kind of silly to us, but it is serious to them. Had someone messed up that bad during a sports competition, they would not have made it further.
Well, the ShowBuzz article said her score was 8.547, which is a respectable score, yet we don’t know if her score would have been 9.+ without the fall. I imagine that she was able to perform enough for them to see her style, or whatever they were looking for. I don’t know the scoring criteria and how falls are calculated, yet, she did not deserve to be booed in my opinion.
Shade, I completely agree - booing was really rude.
I Tivo’ed the show last night. I got the scores from the what they put up on the screen. But, I need to head to work now. I had a fun, silly evening watching this last night. Debating about this is kind of like a little continuation. This trivial type of stuff seems far and few between. So, Just know, I’m not taking any of this too seriously. Have a great day ok. It’s beautiful in Maryland today.
Actually I think this is a just a mantra of the "hate America" DBM/MSM......
Tell a lie enough times, and it becomes "the gospel".
I think you are mistaking the "newsies" owned by their governments with the people.
My wife and daughter are very much into the pageant scene—and, that’s fine for them—but, when I was getting ready to work—LEGALLY—this morning, my wife told me about what happened with Miss USA booing incident—then, I heard the actual audio portion of the same on talk radio while commuting into the office—and I was FUMING!
Pathetic! Assimilation my tail-end! What assimilation?! I live in Southern Cal’ and I certainly do NOT see any assimilation. It’s all about Mexico, Mexico, Mexico. “Go back to Mexico and revolt alongside your ‘hermanos’ to make it the same great country that you’re sneaking into right now, for all I care!”
You want “immigration reform?” How about securing the borders, first, THEN deal with the ILLEGALS (mostly from that great nation called “Mexico”) here. And, don’t begin to tell me that the illegals here in California are investing more (dollars and services) into the system than what they’re taking out. I live here! I see the results of what ILLEGAL immigration has done to what once was a pretty nice state (not anymore, though!).
If the illegals put as much effort into reforming their pathetic country as they do in risking life and limb to escape to America, they might be able to turn things around for the better south of the border. But, that won’t happen anytime soon, not with (you can call it what you want, but I call it) AMNESTY being the “carrot-on-the-stick” that politicians in D.C. dangle in front of illegals—cheap votes for Democrats, cheap labor for Republicans.
“Viva Los Estados Unidos!”
One Angry and Frustrated American
Wow. I remember that. That was so disgusting.
Who won the title of Miss Universe?
Miss Japan won. Yes, the boo’ing was rude and immature.
Maybe I’m being naive here - but, I was under the impression that they boo-ed because Miss Mexico did not make the top 5, and the Miss USA did, even after her fall. I didn’t think that they boo’ed because they hate the USA. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Nope, Holly, that is not the reason why they booed Miss USA. I was surprised the American news media did not pick up on this until yesterday given she was booed countless of times during the days leading up to the main event by the audience. I was watching the National Costumes event held on last Sunday May 20, 2007 and they even booed and gave her the 'thumbs down' during that event and she didn't fall down.
Thanks for explaining this to me Apro. I read something on Drudge just a few moments ago too. I tried hard to give Mexico the benefit of the doubt. But, with your help, I can say & feel it was pretty mean hearted to throw politics into a beauty pageant and humiliate a young lady who worked very hard to make it to the finals.

They dont want to live in their own country? really? thats so sad. what a colonial mental, stupid way of thinking!!! I live in a third world country and i would not even trade living in US compared to my own land. I would not push myself to another country, for i could not live my whole life knowing that i am a second class citizen, or worst of all, an ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT!!! MEXICANS needs to educate themselves that going to US is not the answer to all their dreams. It seems like 99% of Mexicans wants to leave their own country. IF they want change Mexico, the change needs to start within themselves. MEXICANS, GROW UP!!! GET A LIFE!! I believe you’re country is beautiful, do not decay it with classless, shameful stupid acts!!!
Well I have to admit that im not really a fan of pagents, but I did happen to see this incident live, and then again a few more times on the news. And by looking & listening to the audio & video over & over the facts are this. Ms USA was booed, as soon as the word usa left the spokes person mouth, and not by a handful of mexicans as some news agencies would have you think, but by most of the audience, which was said to be about 9000. This booing went on for about 11 seconds. Then the female spokes person said in spanish, qoute: (ok one minute please) and the crowd calms down, but only for about 5 seconds, and then they began chanting, qoute: Mexico! Mexico! Mexico!. This chanting went on for about 11 seconds. When ms usa beagn to answer the question she was asked the crowd got quiet for a second or two as to listen to what her answer would be, and then when she uttered the word africa the booing started again. if you would like to listen for yourself here is a link.

Now I didnt know about the booing before the pagent that occured at national costumes day, but it is a fact that it did occur. And this was before ms usa fell, and before anybody would know where she would place in the pagent. here is a link to hear for yourself.

I understand that there was an incident that happend at a soccer game mexico vs usa in 2005. At this sports venue not only were the mexicans reported to booing the usa national anthem, but also burning american flags, and chanting osama! osama! osama! These are things we saw middle east countries doing in celebration after the september 11th involvement...oops I mean incident. I searched all over but could not find a video of this, talk about media control, but you can google the topic, and get web pages that speak of the incident in detail, here is one. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4236314/
I have read most of the post here, and I would say that most of us posting here would agree that there is an imigration problem here in usa, and more so in Los Angeles. Its much bigger than that. Its not imigration its re-population. Listen... I was born & raised in LA, and thats 35 years now as of may 30th,2007. I have a lot to say and reveal about this topic. I have watched my city go through many stages, and changes, and I just want all of you to know there is a much bigger issue going on here. On labor day the illegal mexicans marched though the streets of LA with the same hatred that poeple in different cities and states are just now coming to see & realize, but we in LA have seen this hate for americans (especialy blacks) since 1984 when the olympics was here. On labor day 2007 while marching through our streets with no oposition they were taughting the police with racial slurs, and saying they were going to take america back, and that we americans were the racist. They were chanting mexico! mexico! just as you all have seen & heard for yourselves here recently while waving the mexican flags throughout the city streets. They were throwing rocks, and bottles at our police and thats why they decided to disburst the crowd at mc’arthur park here in LA on laborday 2007. Now you have a bunch of illegal aliens trying to sue the police department for millions of dollars, as if they even have the right to be here.
I would tell any american who disagrees to go to mexico, and see how much protesting you can do there, or how much government assistance, or health care you can get. Oh... and try to keep your kids out of the miltary. I have heard people on the news claiming that, qoute: we need mexicans just like they need us. Oh please..what they really mean is that they like cheap labor. America needs nobody but americans, so thats crap! What we need is our country back, its been hi-jacked. What I would tell the US government is that the days of cheap oil are over, and so are the days of cheap labor. I mean come on when does this really stop, its insideous. Surely if our goverment can go occupy two countries at once, they can come home and protect our borders. And I would tell the mexicans that they need to first go home and protest for equal rights & jobs in their own streets in mexico not here in LA. We dont owe mexico crap, we won the war fair & square, but if you want another go at it then keep up this unfavored behavior!
