An interesting take on the debate (which I still haven't seen more than the snippets on Glenn Beck)

Fred should stick with acting. Duncan Hunter is the man to be President.

“The GOP DEbate Proves that the Party Needs Fredmentum!”

I think it would be great if Thompson got in but the debate proved that all but two of the candidates are acceptable. Ranging from full support to hold your nose.

A fun and witty read by someone who wants Fred in but otherwise favors Romney’s chances (with a few caveats).

While we’re in Fantasyland, Alyssa Milano should be my personal secretary.

Duncan Hunter is a nice man - good on issues...

but

He has the personality of dry white toast.

While I will heartily welcome his entry... anything projected at this time is just plain bullsh•t. I have two good choices so far... Duncan Hunter and Mitt Romney... Thompson has to enter before I can consider him.

It was such a tease.
Not nearly enough Hunter.
DH looked great, sounded great and used every meager opportunity Chris Matthews begrudgingly gave him.

The Fredheads are wanting the Second Coming of Ronald Reagan. I don’t think that will happen.............

I'm a Fredhead, and I'm not wanting the Second Coming of Ronald Reagan, I'm wanting a candidate I can support, who has a chance to win the Republican nomination and the Presidency. So far, the challengers in the lead are a RHINO and an angry Senator who co-introduced a lousy campaign finance reform bill.

The only candidate I would support, Duncan Hunter, is too far back in the polls with little-or-no chance for the nomination because he's a lackluster speaker with low name recognition.

What I see in FDT is a man who can speak to the average American, is good on the issues, and has name recognition because of his TV/movie background.

Kindly tell me, should Fred announce his candidacy, win the nomination and run, will you sit this election out?

I have, in the past, staked my hopes on a certain candidate, for whatever office for whatever reason, way too early, only to be severely disappointed in the eventualities. I will be very glad if Fred enters the race, but entering and getting the nomination are not the same. Getting the nomination and winning the election are not the same. Not everyone in a party is as convinced as you are. They have their candidates and their issues, too. The Republican party is no different. Whether you get who you want isn't just up to you. There is a sizable Rudy faction and a McCain faction. I admire your zeal and enthusiasm, but remember, the other candidates’ followers are just as zealous and enthusiastic as you are........

I have no issue with either Hunter or Tancredo. But, neither is a well recognized name outside of Republican circles, and both get very little 'press' (of course, we can blame the MSM for much of that).

While Tancredo comes across well, Hunter, as I've stated, seems lackluster. And Tancredo has evolved into a one-issue candidate; immigration. Not that there's anything wrong with being strong on the immigration issue, but he has not made an effort to broaden his range of issues, and his handling of last Thursday's debate was not well received.

Fred, OTOH, has good communication skills, can speak to the issues, whether through prepared text or spontaneously, is the sort of 'common man' image a large segment of the American public could embrace, and is a recognizable face among a large segment of that public. This is what makes him the candidate of choice for me.

I understand what you’re saying, but that in no way diminishes my enthusiasm over a Fred Thompson candidacy. Whether it comes to fruition or not remains to be seen. But of all the other candidates out there currently, not one excites me as much as the possibility of a Fred Thompson candidacy.

So, just as the Rudy, McCain, Hunter, Tancredo, et al factions enjoy their dreams, I will enjoy mine. And we will see who the Republican nomination will be.

More power to you! I will wait until the first real returns are counted. The Florida primary has been moved up to the fourth Thursday in January, IIRC. We’ve still got a whole summer and holiday season to watch where the numbers, and money, go. I really like Fred, but I am prepared for Rudy...........clothespins are really cheap.........

We’ve still got a whole summer and holiday season to watch where the numbers, and money, go.

If we content ourselves with just "watch[ing] where the numbers, and money, go", then we deserve a Rudy.

No, I want to make my voice heard now while the cycle is still young. I want those front runners to know that what they represent is not being well received by conservatives, and to change their tune now, would not make them any more palatable.

I see someone I have confidence in. And even though he hasn't announced his candidacy yet, I want my voice heard in support. Maybe, just maybe, that could mean the difference in him getting in or not. Well, I want to be a part of that decision; one way or the other. And if I just sit and wait now, then it becomes easy to sit and watch later.

Isaiah 40:3

The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
