Imagine how stupid they'd have looked

I'd like to propose to all you MOONBATS out there the following scenario:

It's the 1940's. You're alive, and politically aware. Like any good American, you support our effort in the Second World War.

Now, imagine the following, and how you'd feel about these imaginary events if they happened:

In 1942, many Republicans question the wisdom of going to war against Germany. "After all," they say, "Germany had nothing to do with Pearl Harbor."

In 1943, Republicans complain about the high casualties -- not in the thousands, but in the millions -- and say we should end the war immediately.

In 1944, a man who came home early after winning three Purple Hearts, but somehow managed to do it without shedding his own blood or spending a night in the hospital, runs for president on the Republican ticket, claiming Roosevelt is evil and we should try to reason with the Axis powers.

Later, in 1944, a grief-stricken "gold star mother" camps out near Roosevelt's home. She vows to stay there until "that war criminal" agrees to meet her. Eventually she visits Italy as Mussolini's guest, and is photographed with him in a mutual embrace.

In 1945, after Germany surrenders, no one can find Adolf Hitler's corpse. One Republican after another complains, "For years, all we heard about was Hitler. Hitler this, Hitler that. Well, where's Hitler? Isn't it obvious? ROOSEVELT LIED!"

Silly, eh? Well, congratulations, liberals -- now you know how STUPID you look to those of us in the real world when you whine about Bush.

"Germany had nothing to do with Pearl Harbor."

But it was Germany who declared War on the United States.

Germany declared war on the US.

In 1943, Republicans complain about the high casualties -- not in the thousands, but in the millions -- and say we should end the war immediately.

There were not millions of casualties in 1941,42,and 43 combined.

Silly, eh?

Yup.

You neglect to mention that immediately following our war with Nazi Germany we were in a 50 year Cold War with Soviet East Germany and our former “friend” Joseph Stalin became our enemy.

Shove that down the throats of the Leftists who insist that we are still fighting (A) the same war in Iraq we started in 2003 (which was actually a return strike against Saddam’s abandonment of peace treaties from the 1991 Gulf War) and (B)who insist that we had no business going to war against Saddam when we had formerly given him aid against Iran.

True, but when were liberals interested in facts?

Also, keep in mind this post is an "alternative history." Kinda like Norman Spinrad's The Iron Dream.

I stand corrected on that point -- however, casualties were still much, much higher after three years in WWII than after three years in Iraq.

And one fact still remains: had enough Americans viewed WWII at the time the way the left currently views the Iraq war, we'd have lost WWII.
