Fred Thompson in 1994: Let The Woman Decide - Monday, April 09, 2007 @ 3:06:23 PM
|
During his first run for the U.S. Senate, Fred Thompson said in an interview to a libertarian Republican newsletter that the ultimate decision to have an abortion "must be made by the woman."
The comments were made in the July/August issue of Republican Liberty, the official newsletter of the Republican Liberty Caucus.
In the interview, Thompson was asked: "Some conservatives got flustered by your comments on abortion and Roe vs. Wade. Would you like to explain your position on abortion?"
Thompson answered: "Government should stay out of it. No public financing. The ultimate decision must be made by the woman. |

You've just admitted you've posted a fake skeleton.
Please show me where he said that.
Like other Rudyites, he “Fears the Fred”.

LOL! Boy you guys are in for a rude awakening if Fred starts to run. If you can’t handle this how are you going to be able to handle it when the MSM gets a hold of him?
This is a temporary issue at best. In 20 years with the technological singularity coming? C’mon, it will not matter.
Fred says his position HAS changed. I like it when candidates change from the WRONG position to the RIGHT position. Much better than people who have grown old still clinging to their wrong-headed, evil beliefs.
Oh this is just a mini one
Post his skeletons, then.
Thompson would make an arrow look crooked.
Where would be the shame in "freaking out" about nominal conservatives using a conservative website to spread deception about a conservative candidate in order to advance a liberal like Rudy?
Your compass is gone.
“He has said his views havent changed. What is Freds excuse?”
Maybe he came to the realization that it is a baby being destroyed, not a blob of unviable fetal tissue.
Dynachrome made the same journey. Quote me from 30 years ago, I’ll tell ya how I have changed. Fred may be a bit late, but unlike Romney, I do not think it is political expediency. Rudy is smart in one respect, he realizes that to backtrack on his pro-abortion stand won’t work at this late date.
“Rudy is the “gag” candidate: guns, abortion, gays. Wrong on all three.”
...and Ronald Reagan was once a Democrat.
Fred Thomosons record stands on its own.
Rudy Guiliani’s record stands on its own.
Guiliani is a liberal lawyer turned politician period.
"fake skeleton," it must mean I'm a fan of honesty, at least among conservatives.
What's your excuse?
If I owned FR I'd zot all their asses.
American Spectator is conservative. Its not like I used some liberal site to post this from - wait till the leftists start posting lies then is when you should freak out. Not when facts are posted.
That settles it for me. Thompson is head and shoulders above Giuliani.
Giuliani refers to abortion as a Constitutional right and calls for the return of welfare abortions.
Interesting. What is Thompson’s position on homosexual marriage? If he is for it, he may give Giuliani a run for his money.
It’s still a fake. Why do you need to resort to deception or misdirection or obfuscation?
I take back what I said, pissant. I guess the other folks are going back even farther than you. 1994?? Sheesh, I think I was still reading the “Daily Worker” back then (I get my decades mixed up sometimes).
What is really sad is that, whenever a Rudy supporter attacks another candidate, it is always for a position that candidate shares with Rudy.
With Romney, it was that he voted for an assault weapons ban. With Fred it was supporting McCain/Feingold.
It seems that, for Rudy supporters, the worst thing the other candidates can do is to support Rudy’s positions on the issues.
