This document is a record and analysis of all of Sen. Thompson's immigration related congressional votes, cosponsorships, and other immigration actions during his career in Congress.
Immigration Profiles is the only exhaustive source for this information available in one place.

“I, for one, would not be happy with a C. But we will wait and see what further info rattles down the pipe. I dont consider Thompson to be that bad of a candidate, definitely better than the big 3.”
That’s what is really boils down to for Republicans. No issue interest group is going to be totally happy with every stand he takes. The question is will be be palatible enough to each issue interest group so that they could vote, albeit reluctantly, for him. Thus far, he appears to me to be the least offensive and the closest to a candidate I could vote “for” not just vote for him because I’m simply voting against another. He isn’t perfect.
Would love to see RINO Rudy listed, but not applicable.
It certainly will not be a deal breaker. Taking into account the Positives to Negatives ratio, he still comes out clear as the best choice who actually has a chance to win, IMO.
I’m not happy with a C.
I actually know the staff of NumbersUSA and have suggested to a key Numbers staffer the need to assess the credibility of Thompson’s 9/11-related “conversion” experience to the cause of immigration reform; the “C” is based solely on his largely 1990s voting record and does not in any express a lukewarm assessment.
He certainly is much better than McCain or Giuliani.
I’m glad it was a mistake, Afronaut, no apology needed. :-)
Any objections to just cleaning up post 1 and 7?
They’ve been around a lot longer than Tancredo...
Yeah, if you go far enough out of your way. I know your point was to critize President Reagan. Mine was to defend him.
Regards.
Not at all. I mearly posted that as a point of reference to those who seemed willing to toss Thompson to the sharks over immigration.
I served in the military under Reagan and was proud to do so
looks like the website was registered in 96
Might as well have clean up on aisle 8 L0L
Pre 9/11 votes don’t mean very much in todays world. Fred has stated very clearly that we need to close the borders and punish those hiring illegals. And he has stated those seeking citizenship will have to go back home and get in line. He has also said that we need to be firmer with the way we deal with the Mexican government over this issue.
“I dont think the perfect candidate exists.”
Agreed.
Fred is a failure when it comes to immigration. Rudy is more conservative than he is.
Come on, you can surely lie better than that. Fred drove the 9/11 terrorist to the air port or something.
I think it would be a good idea if you asked the admin mod to change the misrepresentation of the grade given Thompson in your first posts.
In my profile you’ll find this is an important issue to me, and many conservatives have ranging views on how to solve it. I for one think as long as you start enforcing our given laws, and proving their causing wide spread change....
Then I’m more than willing to look at options in immigration policy changes. I like Fred, but I don’t necessarily like his past opinions on everything (as far as immigration goes). Something in between Duncan and Fred would probably be my ideal, but I would likely support Fred....I just think he has a credible chance. And I trust him to a point, because the way he speak of Mexico and the illegal immigration...is really honest.
Mexico’s got to change...latin america’s got change. If Rudy was a C on this issue, I’d actually consider lending him more support....but he isn’t. I like most of our candiates for different reasons.
