FReepers for Duncan Hunter Please vote in the FR poll. Fred Thompson is polling way out front here, and I think that is great, but personally I think Duncan Hunter would be better at the TOP of the ticket with Fred Thompson as VP...

hardly ANYBODY knows who Hunter even IS.
fyi, i ( i'm a GOP party official & am "in the loop".) had heard his NAME 6 months ago, but knew NOTHING else about him other than that he was a CA congress-critter. imVho, he has NO chance of getting elected. NONE!
Fred Thompson, otoh, IS well-known, nationally & is fairly CONSERVATIVE,and therefore UNlike "rudy" & "john" could get MY vote. furthermore he could WIN in Nov '08.
if ANY liberal/RINO/"pro-choicer"/"gay rights" advocate/anti-gun nut is the GOP candidate, i will "go fishing" on election day. MILLIONS of CONSERVATIVES will join me on the "creek bank"!!! (the GOP will do WELL to hear my/our voices.)

hardly ANYBODY knows who Hunter even IS. Ahhh the old "no name recognition" / "He can't win" argument against a GREAT GOP candidate.... The real question is... How many folks will know who Duncan Hunter is BEFORE the Primaries... because I honestly believe that will be very close to the number of votes he gets.... A LOT of NAME RECOGNITION can be achieved in a year in todays modern information flow world... I encourage all Duncan Hunter fans to do your part to help... it is way too early in the game to throw in the towel on the basis of "Name Recognition"... that is GARBAGE... IMHO

all i'm saying is that hardly anyone KNOWS what Hunter believes/thinks/says on ANY subject. he'd better HURRY & let everyone know, IF he's serious about being POTUS.
btw, how many MILLION $$$$$ does he have THIS minute??? (fyi, the hilleryBEAST got over 5,000,000 just in 2 days!!!)

Fred Thompson IS... fairly CONSERVATIVE
Red flag. Not so of Duncan Hunter. Hunter is not “fairly” conservative. He is the more conservative of the two. I always pull for the most conservative candidate.

Come on. You need to LEARN how to distinguish between the SOURCE (name of the source) and SOURCE URL (URL of the source) when posting these threads. Otherwise they will continue to look amateurish. This isn’t hard stuff. Just READ the instructions. Sorry, but this is sort of a pet peeve of mine when reading these posting errors.

I do know the difference but on occassion I take a shortcut and when the URL and the SOURCE are close enough to the same, I post the URL twice COPY once/PASTE twice, I didn't think it was a big deal, but since you mentioned it, and since it is a distraction to the content for you, and likely is to others I will take the time to more clearly state the SOURCE... thanks for taking the time to point out this technical "posting error"

We need to work TOGETHER for a
DUNCAN HUNTER / FRED THOMPSON 2008 ticket.. all this FR bickering is not helping us... IMHO What "issue" would you like a Duncan Hunter Position on that has not already been published?

"I find that very interesting considerng the fact that Fred Thompson is not even an official candidate"
We just may be watching history in the making. I dare say, it started right here on FR, too!

Think about it. Fred is 64, Hunter is 59 (come May). We need a veep that can go the distance...16 years. Hunter is in the age bracket, but Fred would be at the upper limits of his sustainability.
So, a Hunter/Fred ticket is not gonna' happen, besides which, I highly doubt that Fred would accept veep.
I much prefer a Thompson/Watts ticket, which would solve numerous issues for us and the Country. And JC is only 51.
I submit, we would accomplish more, and have more conservatives in our midst, as well as longer control of the White House, with a Thompson/Watts ticket.

I for one do not consider the VP position to be an AUTOMATIC endorsement 8 years later... Those days are gone IMHO... We just need to focus on 2008-2012 that's it.. I do understand your point though, and many will agree with you.. I just happen to not be one...
FReegards,
HUNTER/THOMPSON in 2008 (If Fred Thompson will accept VP) if not HUNTER/Watts is okay with me too..

What "issue" would you like a Duncan Hunter Position on that has not already been published? Utterly meaningless polls would be a good start.

SORRY, but i feel that Hunter has about the same chance as i do (and i'm NOT running.) to be POTUS in '08.
Fred Thompson, otoh, COULD win.
perhaps Hunter should set his sights on being Fred's VP???
i also note that NOBODY has said that Hunter and MOST of the other "second tier" candidates have NO $$$$$$ & LITTLE chance of matching the "hilleryBEAST" in either fund-raising or votes.

You know as well as I do that FR polls (MEMBERS) are by no means "utterly meaningless" For several years now FR (member) POLLS have proven to be a very accurate representation of conservatives from (right of center to Far Right)... So I would not write off a FR (member) poll as "utterly meaningless"... this is the FIRST of many FR polls to come between now and Primary day...
I expect Duncan Hunter's numbers will go UP with each poll... and when it reaches a point where the MSM can't ignore him anymore... I expect a headline like "Who is Duncan Hunter?" so they can pretend that they have not been intentionaly NOT giving him any coverage....but only time will tell....

let me ask you this.. IF you THOUGHT Duncan Hunter COULD win would you vote for him?... The PRIMARY is all about choosing the best candidate for the party.. I don't buy the "he can't win" garbage this early in the game... That argument is NOT relevent this early in the game IMHO..
IF everyone who says "Duncan Hunter would be my FIRST choice if I "THOUGHT" he could win" actually came out and supported him, I believe he WOULD be the front runner right now, and only get stronger as the campaign goes on.... JUST MY 2 cents as always..

I don’t recall the numbers on a “Keyes” FR members poll do you have one in archive that you can pull up to prove your point.. I can’t make an argument/comparission without the data...

if you've followed my comments on other threads, i would actually like to have Tom Tancredo as POTUS. he, TOO, is a "second tier candidate" with no "name recognition", no $$$$$$-raising ability (to match that of the DIMocRATS) & a genuinely NICE/decent guy. (fyi, i KNOW him personally.) one of my best friends (my much-beloved Patricia, from SC) is his "principle money source" & "pusher toward actual announcing".
SORRY, but i don't think Hunter can WIN the general election.
winning MUST be our goal= DESTROYING the "hilleryBEAST".

Again we are back to square one of this “debate”.. What do YOU have against Duncan Hunter other than the “I don’t think he can win” garbage..... that argument is usually used against someone that is a GREAT candidate but just not YOUR first choice.. I just wish folks were more honest and just say “He is a great candidate, would make a great President, but “so and so” is my FIRST CHOICE.. what is wrong with saying that... unless you actually have a real reason for saying that a particular candidate is “UNACCEPTABLE”
