I cannot reconcile these words with Hunter's spending record. I'm not knocking the guy in other areas, but it seems disingenuous for him to talk about reducing federal spending when he voted for No Child Left Behind, the 2005 Highway bill and the prescription drug entitlement.
Some people are never satisfied.

BINGO!!! Support for big government and over spending is clearly a deal breaker for me as I view the role of government as THE defining issue of conservatism. We do not need another "big government conservative". (an oxymoron if ever there was one) I am holding out for Fred Thompson.
I'm looking into Thompson, too. I don't know that much about him, but he has a good record on federalism, which is huge for me.
Thank you for responding. I do appreciate your father's service. However, I still think he missed a great opportunity to show the thousands of VN vets and their families that he stood with them in the "never again" protest.
