This is so great on so many levels. But what hit me the most is that TSP felt some in the DU community may have been in the same boat, thus his looking for their guidance. That right there defines DU.
The term 'loser' just scratches the surface with these folks.
And Will's (oops, TSP's) belief that he's known 'universally' is a joke. HA!
At the first sock poppet incident, I guessed that the school payed off the victim and quietly dismissed Will, but some people know what really went on and talked about it. A year or so later, people are still talking about it, thus the need for another sock poppet.

I know I alluded to this earlier but it warrants further mention. Pitt is a star of Democratic Underground (yeah, I know). He's prominent, conceivably knows a number of posters personally through his closeness to Skinner, Bev Harris and others, so when he states "and some have probably Been in this situation themselves", he's quite possibly writing from first hand knowledge.
It's this that makes this year+ - old post so interesting to me. I wasn't on the DUmmie FUnnies ping list yet, so this is new to me. But this really makes me suspect the DUers are truly more than a bunch of basement lounging wannabes tripping over pizza boxes. Not that all may be suspect of juvenile sexual harassment (I'll leave the 'P' word alone for now), but there could possibly be a sub-culture working within DU that Pitt is tuned in to (I've heard they seek out their own). And that could put the onus on Skinner should any of this come to light; inadvertently or otherwise.
Now wouldn't that be something?

I didn't follow PJ's link to read the entire thread, but in what PJ posted here, I don't see one censure to Pitt's contention that some at DU may have been guilty of the same (or similar) deeds. Oh, sure, some really criticized his methods, and some came next to outing him, but no one brought this up.
Think about that. Could this be, in part, 'letting sleeping dogs lie'? Now, I'm not saying that DU has been taken over by a sub-culture of child molesters; not by a long shot. And I'm sure that most responders simply never 'got' the implication. But some had to. And to me, if anyone at DU would be 'in the know' beside Skinner, it would be Pitt.
Say someone on FR posted a vanity alluding to being harassed for alleged sexual crimes against juveniles, then claimed he'd posted the vanity because he thought others on FR may have had similar experience, and he wanted their input. What do you think the response would be on FR? IMHO, it would be sure and swift censure. But not on DU. Why?
