"All the candidates did NOT "do the same". Hunter did not."
Go Duncan Go!!!
Seriously, all candidates try to get supporters to straw polls and if they don't or can't, that's their problem. All campaigns have flaks and supporters, but Romney was more visible/energized. These kind of polls help weed out campaigns and campaigners who can't organize well, and I for one think that you can't be a good executive if you can't run a good campaign. We should praise Romney for his strong showing and his organization and not diss him over the 'unfairness' of having supporters who showed up.
"
Rudy's speech was as well received, if not BETTER, than anyone's. His audience was entralled and could have listened twice as long without complaint. Such a LIE discredits your other comments."
ROFLMAO ... I posted/linked to other reporters on this.
Powerline: "Romney has taken plenty of hits lately but today, I think, he produced a hit -- an extra-base hit"
Red State's Erick Erickson: "I have to say that it was a tremendous speech."
And National Review got great vibes from the Romney speech:
- Lopez: "Immediately after his speech, a social-conservative activist who was so not into him said to me 'now that's more like it.'" (Kathryn Jean Lopez, "Romney Reax," National Review, http://corner.nationalreview.com, 3/2/07)
New York Times' Adam Nagourney: "...Mr. Romney arrived to a much more subdued reception but left to a rousing roar of applause." (Adam Nagourney, "Romney And Giuliani Make Pitch To Conservatives," The New York Times, 3/2/07)
There were numerous reports and reactions that indicate Romney hit a home-run with his speech. Please don't call an opinion a "lie" just because you disagree with it.
As if I need the opinions of reporters to know what happened when I heard the speech that Rudy gave and saw the response of the audience which had repeated interruptions of agreement.
If the Rudyphobes were correct he should have been received with hisses and boos if not cries of "FAG LOVER" since such is apparently what determines a "true" conservative to some around here.
So Romney got a double. That is no exaggeration but Rudy did at least as well. I never said his tactics were unfair or underhanded so I don't know where that came from. In fact, I haven't said that Romney did not do well in this whole episode. Romney, Rudy and Newt were the clear winners here probably the last two did best. Rudy because this was a hotbed of conservatives and Newt because his Coy Maiden tactic seems to be working as well. Powerline is also incorrect in claiming Romney took any hits of late. He has not.
