Being an uncle of a two tour in pit Marine, I don't know how many nights I simply did not sleep, and prayed for hours on end, going through so many scenarios, dreaming of being in combat along side them, in places like the marsh edged swamps on the Tigris touching Fallujah, trying to shoot goons that where trying to harm a Iraqi farmer and his daughters, before they could reach the family.
The dreams persisted for a long time on and off. Spent endless hours scanning maps, reading every item on FR and elsewhere related to Iraq and Afghanistan. Thinking just how I would command a ground force in many of those battles we have all read about.
For those with loved ones in these places, the rest of the world really does not know what some go through.
But through it all. I put my faith in HE WHO CAN DO. HE was gracious enought to spare my nephew during incoming mortar attacks, almost being blown up by rigged trucks down below al Mahmudiya in the town of Latifiya, while on recon patrols ,and a few other close scrapes.
I shall continue to hold all our brave men and women up in prayer for HIS gracious Hand to cover them, like a mother hen shields her chicks.
HIS will be done.

A co-worker of mine, his nephew, a Marine, was in Fallujah and was wounded. After that he was deployed to A-stan right on the A-Stan/Paki border by the Wuristan (sp) Province. It's so tough on families waiting at home, wondering at home how our Troopers are doing, so far away.
