Yesterday, President Clinton outlined his proposals for more stringent, federal gun licensing requirements.... I applaud the President's proposals, and I will support them any way I can.... I only hope that he is right, and that Congress is finally ready to recognize that the vast majority of Americans want more gun control. It makes sense. It is time. And we can no longer let special interests dominate this vitally important issue... know many people argue that keeping and bearing arms is federally guaranteed right as stated in the Second Amendment of the Constitution.... But even in the Second Amendment, it refers to firearms in the context of a well regulated militia, and well regulated is what we're trying to accomplish.

-Rudolph W. Giuliani

Of course, you happily reside in a state that would consider my daily routine and weekend amusements to be grounds for lifelong incarceration, so I don't expect you to get it.

A man who believes in the second amendment doesn't take historic actions to go after gun manufacturers and restrict gun purchases, sales and possession. It isn't just that Rudy supported gun control, it's that he led the charge more than any other figure in America. He's the top gun warrior in the United States.

Rohrschach or Rorschach are the two spellings for that name, btw.

It's true regardless, and no matter what one thinks about abortion. The Constitution grants no powers whatever to the United States concerning health or medicine or, particularly, abortion. That being the case, Amendment X applies, and decisions, statutes and whatnot else in the areas named above are, clearly, ''reserved to the States, respectively, or to the people.''

If you want to deal in the ''fundamental right'' argument, you would be better off using Amendment V. It's a cinch for any rational person to prove the denial of life without due process of law, regarding abortion. The Left skirts this, and has sadly gotten away with skirting it, by asserting the foetuses are not alive. The minute that this point is conceded, the argument for legal abortion goes away immediately; therefore, they will never concede this point.

After seeing what he did in New York, how can any rational individual believe this?

I don't think the constitution grants that power to the courts, was my point.

I know they now think that's their role, along with penning new law.

The Pro-life crowd and the NARAL radicals do NOT want Roe overturned. It would be both of their worst nightmares.

He supprots RoeYou have no clue what Giuliani's views are. Rudy quote:

"I'm personally pro choice, and I've never made any bones about it. Having talked to constitutional scholars though and really having studied it more myself, I think Roe was terrible case law. Even liberal scholars will tell you that. And I'm a lawyer. All I've ever cared about is the construction. And having seen that, I really believe abortion should be a state issue, and if elected, I'm going to nominate people like Scalia and Roberts to the bench. Call it a litmus test or whatever you want, but I'm going to nominate judges who reflect my philosophy."

I think those are the kinds of justices I would appoint – Scalia, Alito and Roberts.

Ruth Bader Meinhoff just remarked she's lonely, hanging on until Hillary can appoint Janet Reno.

Consistent with Hillary's strict destructionist philosophy.

But even in the Second Amendment, it refers to firearms in the context of a well regulated militia, and well regulated is what we're trying to accomplish.

It means since the government must possess guns in order to protect the nation's security, the people have the right to possess guns to protect themselves from the government.

My God, the man doesn't even understand the plain language of our constitution. If he wins, it's the death of the GOP as we know it.

Ya know, if Rudy hadn't spent his life being a liberal, he wouldn't have these problems now. They're coming back to bite him in the @ss and it's his own darn fault. Once a RINO, always a RINO! IF he doesn't have a track record to prove he's a conservative, then he's finished. Flip flopping on beliefs to get elected just won't cut it. The voters are smarter than that now.

No candidate can win without the Christian conservative vote, and they're just flat not going to vote for a RINO. They took a chance on GWB, and he let them down. That's why so many of them stayed home in the last election. It threw Congress to the RATS. They flat refused to vote for the RINOS! We've seen their mindset now, and it's us who are going to have to move over to the right and vote for the conservatives, or we're going to lose the election again. There is going to have to be a true conservative with a record to prove it, or they're flat not going to vote, and this time, it will throw the office to Hillary.

I like Rudy, but you are quoting something Rudy never said. The quote you provide is from a columnist's discussion of things Rudy might HYPOTHETICALLY say to win conservative support on abortion:

No problem- easy mistake to make the way it was quoted on NRO's "The Corner" which is where I expect you saw it.

"What are you going to believe, your eyes or what I tell ya?"

The funny thing about that quote, is that in that scene, he told her right, and her eyes were wrong. He wasn't in fact hitting on his cook, but he had gotten drunk and fallen down while she was talking to him.

So even if you were right, you'd still be wrong.
