It's more like "John Rambo" is related to me. When my ancestor, Peter Gunnarsson Rambo (1612-98), came to settle New Sweden, he brought with him some apple seeds to plant. That tree became known in America as the "Rambo apple."
Fast-forward a few centuries. An author is working on an action-adventure story. His wife comes home from the grocery store with a bag of apples. He asks her what kind they are. She tells him, "Rambo apples." He likes the name and uses it for his character. True story.
