Al-Rashideen Army, one of the major insurgency groups operating in Iraq besides the Mujahideen Shura Council, Ansar al-Sunnah, Islamic Army in Iraq et al, recently issued a fifty-three minute video produced as a documentary titled: “The Code of Silence”. The presentation is directed to communicate with the “Western mentality,” and features cues and styles similar to popular films, and English-language narration and text. The main speaker is that same that was featured in past open letter statements to U.S. President George W. Bush from al-Rashideen Army, and this video serves the same purpose as those tape of constantly addressing the president and pointing to purported fabrications. Primarily, the documentary seeks to dispel the illusion that American soldier casualties have been low during the course of the War in Iraq, using an Internet release direct from an insurgency group to circumvent an alleged silence of reality imposed by the American government on the international media organizations.
Footage of attack operations, a look at the headquarters of the “Tabuk missile brigade” and an interview with its operations director, borrowed clips from the films, Top Gun, and Fahrenheit 9/11by Michael Moore (who the narrator claims was the impetus for this presentation) fill the documentary with the bias that the War in Iraq is based on obfuscations of reality and lack of regard for the life of American soldiers. The narrator states: “So we started to drop that naïve thought that the American soldiers means anything to you, that they are precious, and started to face the simple reality that this army, like any other army, lies; except that this army’s lies are much more acceptable, buyable, and supported with the fabrication of genius liars. That this army has the unbelievable capability to impose this huge pressure on the media in order to keep them shut up, in order to keep them scared to death to talk to keep them under the code of silence.”
In addition, the video also mocks the idea that the insurgents are of little intelligence; for example, explaining that the Mujahideen did possess rockets, though no one belivied because of the “lie department”. To this end, a clip of General John Abizaid providing testimony before a committee in Congress is displayed. Focusing on President Bush, the narrator believes the president has much reason to fear should his lies be exposed to the American people. For this his claims history bears good example of treason coming from behind, the documentary then showing footage of an interview with former White House counterterrorism advisor Richard Clarke. As the documentary then continues, only 2% of the group’s operations are stated to be included, al-Rashideen Army representing one of six major factions operating in Iraq. Some scenes show the intricate making and planting of roadside bombs and rockets, one in particular depicting how a set of rockets were concealed under the tarp on the roof of a pickup truck and a car placed under the front right light. All the while the narrator provides constant commentary, taunts, and concludes: “You cannot recruit enough soldiers to fill the flesh and blood gap. We are digging at your victorious army. As a matter of fact, your new enlisting required qualifications are kind of comical I mean, what exactly are you doing? 39 years old?!! That’s the new acceptable age of enlisting?? Are you recruiting nannies??? I guess if we are patient enough we might witness little people enlisting for the Marines.” The video and transcript are provided to our Intel Service members.
