There is a way around that, go get admitted to a hospital for pain management. They will do an MRI, CT Scan and a Micro-discogram (sp) just make sure the doctors who treat you and perform any test on you know it is WC. If they note degenerative disc COMP WILL STOP PAYING!!!

about 12 yrs ago i ruptured a disc in my lower back.

i went to a good chiroprator, tried pain killers and muscle
relaxants of all sorts...nothing helped. in excruciating
pain i went to the er in the middle of the night. they
referred me to a neurologist, not an orthopedist. within a
week the pressure on my spine had cut off all feeling down
my left leg. i could barely stay still for the mri. i had
laser surgery the next day. no stitches, no blood, etc. in
and out of the hospital in two days and only a 4 week
recovery. without that surgery i would probably have
permanent nerve damage and i would not be able to walk
on my own now.

i so hope the wc folks decide therapy is not working so you
can get an mri done soon.
