Russia is responding to allegations Putin engineered the poisoning of former FSB Colonel Litvienko.

I'm not a fan of Putin - or his regime - but the denials make more sense than the media's rush to judgment !

We know what Putin's motivation for the murder would be. Can you point to someone else who had a motivation to do this?

There were some reports that the victim was investigating the assasination of a journalist in Moscow that had been critical of Putin.

Do not see a 'rush to judgment' just reporting the facts as the now 'dead' man, talking. . .articulated.

I am first and most inclined; to give him credence of knowing what and whereof he speaks.

Could he be mistaken; possibly; but not likely. . .could he be still 'playing spy'. . .possibly; but not likely.

Like OJ's gloves that really did fit; think this scenario; while much to fool the eye; in fact, does not . . .

Nor should the roots and manifestations of Putin's KGB personna, be otherwise dismissed as irrelevant to this deadly event. . .

What would Putin's motive be ? That he was looking into the murder of Anna Polrikovskaya ? So are about 100 other people-including folks closer to the scene than he was.
That he wrote a book -pretty much dictated by his patron-Boris Berezovsky ? The book came out 3 years ago.

How about a motive that other people might have had ?

Did Litvinenko tip off his "close friend"-the "nuclear waste expert" as to where a shipment of 90% enriched Uranium might come through ?

Would the interception of this shipment-probably worth millions-by the Italian authorities have ticked off the buyers and the sellers ? Could the use of Polonium 210 as a weapon have been a "signal" by the Russian Mafia (much like stuffing a canary in the mouth of a snitch )?

I doubt you or I have much more than a clue as to what sort of stuff goes on in Russia and Eastern Europe. For example, what else might have the late Anna P. have been working on - apart from a critique of good ol' Vlad the Impaler ?
