A great commentary on what will happen to the Republican Party if this Administration is successful in pushing amnesty through,

Oh, please, it wasn't a stunning defeat. It was a very narrow win by the Dems, mostly because a handful of anti-Hispanic extremists (sorry, let's call them what they are: they wouldn't care if Brits were flooding over our borders) decided to "punish" the GOP for wanting to reach a rational solution, and instead decided stay home and permit Pelosi to get in power. So it sort of serves them right for what they got...people who want to import Muslims into this country by the container load.
I disagree with Bush on many things. I think he's too nice to Islamists, for example, and he's too nice to Dems. His biggest problem is that he honestly believes that if you do the right thing, others will reciprocate, but this is not the case among fallen humanity.

Oh come on... Did Steele really have a chance in MD? Or, was it more of our wishful thinking? Great candidate and ads don't necessarily translate to winning an election...

My tin foil hat is on slightly:
How else will they get the North America Union?
Who will be the leader of the North American Union?
The Clinton clan, the Bush clan or the Kennedy/Schwarzenegger tribe.
I think they will trade being the leader.

"Quite frankly, every issue facing us including the war in Iraq and on Islamic Terrorism pales in comparison to this one, upon which the very existence of America depends."
If we lose the WOT on terror here at home, in our own back yards, then every soldier who has given his life to protect this country, will have done so in vain.
But for some, even Republicans, the OBL/NAU agenda, for some godforsaken reason, takes precidence over an effectively secured border.

Forget about Maryland. That's water under the bridge. Ken Mehlman picked Steele to take over at the RNC. OOPS! Now that's water over the New Orleans levee.

"The tapping of Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL) as RNC Chairman is confirming evidence that George Bush is intent on destroying the Republican Party."
Agreed!

It was a stunning defeat. A party with absolutely no ideas whatsoever to offer defeated a party with theoretically the Constitutional position on every issue. Despite being many times more corrupt than the Republicans, Democrats managed to ride an anti-corruption wave. Despite having an atrocious record on economical issues, they managed to paint Republicans as big spenders. And so on.
mostly because a handful of anti-Hispanic extremists (sorry, let's call them what they are: they wouldn't care if Brits were flooding over our borders)
Of course we wouldn't. Brits speak English and assimilate quickly to our culture.

Yeah, agreed. This really was not a "referendum" on Bush, but was dominated by local candidates and how objectionable they were on a scale of 1 to 10. Some of ours were just a little more objectionable or duller or vaguer, while the Dems pushed atypical relatively conservative candidates. We've got to get better ones next time around.

No, it was more just to move Mel (one of my Senators) out of the way into a place where he will sink to the level of his own lack of imagination. He's good on some things (has a good pro-life record), but he's about as exciting as watching paint dry and will probably be just fine as the RNC Chairman, which is primarily a symbolic position anyway.
