Five things we learned about Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger last week during a trip to Mexico:
*He is teaching his four kids to read the newspapers.
The governor, asked about the decline of America's daily newspapers during a sit-down in Mexico City with a bunch of California print reporters, said newspapers can learn a lot from other industries such as the movies, which have had to adapt to changing consumers markets. The Schwarzenegger kids, he said, are greeted at breakfast with the question, "what section of the paper do you want?'' Then they are offered news stories and their favorite comics with their pancakes. The idea, he says, is to get kids hooked on reading a newspaper every day. Needless to say, this went over exceedingly well with the California press corps.
*He has a screening room at home.
Schwarzenegger said that his home has a private screening room, but his kids still like to go out to the movies. The lesson: it's the experience, not just the product, that counts.
