Rudy could spell 2nd Amendment trouble, tho no more than a Democrat would. And he has a history of being soft on illegal immigration. Rudy was in C-Span recently and was asked about immigration. His response was reasonable, in that he said that where he was sitting as mayor there was zero possibility of getting the feds to actually control the border - and the only thing he could do was try to manage the situation as it existed. He sounded entirely sensible - but then, tho I understand that others are impacted by illegal immigration, it simply has not affected me as a problem personally. Your mileage may vary.

OTOH McCain is pure poison on the First Amendment, as bad as any Democrat. Freepers may or may not be walking arsenals - but FreeRepublic is all about exercising of First Amendment rights which McCain directly threatens. Whatever people are smoking that makes them think about political "speech" in a way that makes "campaign finance reform" seem honorable should definitely be illegal.

Rudy would be better than just about any Democrat you can name, and - leaving aside the personal issues which perhaps we should not leave out of the mix - may be the most electable Republican whose name is presently being bruited for '08. I like FR far too much to favor McCain for the nomination. And I question whether I'd be able to vote for him in the general if by some miracle the Democrats nominate someone I could respect as much as Guliani.

When the "Keating Five" scandal broke, McCain was desperate, but he found a way out. His escape was to put his gonads have been in the MSM's lockbox, and ever since then McCain has been a creature of "the MSM." If he ever got the Republican nomination he would face a Democrat who (since no liberal has any other consideration than getting good PR) was even more a creature of the MSM. The moment he got the nomination, therefore, McCain would lose his base of support in the MSM or else run to the left to try to compete for the support of the MSM.

What kind of a consevative would deliberately sign on for that??

He spoke here in PA. this past weekend and is a great speaker, he could use alot of milage on that gift....the thing I'm afraid of with Rudy is the second admendment...I am a gun owner, shooter...and I feel that is my right not a gift to bear arms....and I don't think I would take kindly to anyone trying to different on that subject, along with a few million other gun owners, shooters.

McPain, I will not in any way shape or form vote for...just won't do it, he is a pure bred RINO and I don't care if he was a POW, there have been many stories about that subject, but when he got with the gang of 13 that did it for me...I don't understand why the people in his state keep electing him...course I don't know why the people of Mass. keep electing drunk kennedy either...lol...

I would have to brush up of the Keeting mess, to know what it was all about...along about that time, I had babies and diapers and working and trying to keep a home with me and my babies...single mother...so I would have to read up on it...

You bring out some good points, I just won't vote for McPain...
