So my friends, after months of hard campaigning, here's what the race for Indiana's 7th District has come down to:
In an act of electoral desperation, Julia Carson and her supporters have resorted to the most vicious kind of mudslinging. Campaign fliers paid for by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee began showing up in mailboxes across the district this week. Many of you are furious that Julia has resorted to these negative attacks when she promised she would not. These fliers show that the real Julia Carson is someone who will go to any lengths to remain in office. I'm angry too, but what the events this week show me is that we're winning the race.
They say my message of change, fresh leadership and new ideas to solve a host of old problems are resonating with folks across the political spectrum. I know you agree with me on this, which is why you've given most generously your time, sweat and support to my campaign. We simply wouldn't be here without your help.
We are on the verge of a huge political upset, one that will reverberate not only here in Indiana, but across the nation. Our Central Indiana press is now talking the campaign seriously, and so is the national media, not to mention national Democratic political operatives. I, for one, never doubted we would win this contest.
Make no mistake, though. We haven't defeated Julia Carson yet. She remains a formidable opponent, who on Election Days past has mounted get-out-the-vote-efforts that are nothing short of remarkable. That's why the next few days are crucial. I hope I can count on your continued support. We need a strong showing on Tuesday if we're going to win this thing. Chances are you or some of your friends and neighbors received one of those vile fliers. Tell folks Julia promised to run a clean campaign, but she broke her word. Remind people I remained true to my commitment and didn't resort to dirty campaign tactics. Tell your neighbors I've outlined positive solutions for some of our community and nation's most difficult problems from illegal immigration and crime, to the War in Iraq and our city's transportation issues. Tell them that, even as we move into the campaign's final few days, I will willingly debate the issues with Julia Carson at any place of her choosing.
You've heard me say this often. I got into this race because I think a congressional seat is a terrible thing to waste; that I want to offer something back to a community I've been proud to call home for the past 27 years, and which has been very good to me. We have an opportunity here and now to be force for positive change in our community. However, we must get out the vote.
Confound the pundits and their conventional wisdom. Together on Tuesday, let's embrace the possibilities for a better community.
Thanks again,
Eric
PING!
GO ERIC, beat the bag
*ping*
This would be awesome.
I listen to an Indy radio station, and her most recent spot is generic about Iraq, blah, blah, blah, and it's full of over the top rhetoric. I tell you, it's not the kind of commercial that you want to listen to on your way to work, not the way you want to start your day at all.
I didn't realize Dickerson had a chance. It's certainly NOT getting any national play, now is it. In fact, the conventional wisdom wasn't talking about any incumbent dems losing their elections.
I watched a lot of Indianapolis TV this weekend, and it was wall-to-wall election commercials and Colts. The live interview that Channel 13 did with Julia Carson was absolutely pathetic; she coughed and gagged after every sentence, but made sure that the interviewer knew she was headed to church.
Also, that woman cannot speak anymore; on one of her commercials, I can't understand what she is saying until she gets to the word "cohesive" (which, I admit, was a surprise that she even knew it). Good Lord, people, she is way past her prime; vote her OUT, 7th District!
Yeah she reminds me of that movie where the two guys are hauling around a dead body pretending that he is alive.
LOL
please add me to the Indiana ping list!
Thank you!!
Eric Dickerson BUMP!
Yeah, A couple years ago, I thought it was the same Eric Dickerson. That Eric had a short stint here on the Colts, so I thought it was him.
By the way, your nightmare is very scary
Yes, your lefties are so obnoxious they irritate me at this distance.
Regards, Ivan
With the two minute warning Eric runs for a TD.
I'm pretty certain at least three or four Dems will lose their House seats tomorrow. GA-08, GA-12 and IL-08 are in serious jeopardy of GOP takeover, with IA-03, IN-07, PA-12, MD-03 and WV-01 also in play.
Julia Carson:
comatose but comitted to voting with Pelosi when it counts
I hope that someday your children and grandchildren will tell of the time that a certain president came to town at the end of a long journey and asked their parents and grandparents to join him in setting America on the course to the new millenniumand that a century of peace, prosperity, opportunity, and hope followed. So, if I could ask you just one last time: Tomorrow, when mountains greet the dawn, would you go out there and win one for the Gipper? Ronald Reagan, November 7, 1988
