Fair and Balanced was a joke tonight on the O'Reilly Show. In the discussion of John Kerry's soldier hate speech comments, O'Reilly gave Kerry a big, fat free pass. In what is obvious to anyone, Kerry clearly attacks soldiers to get a laugh from a college crowd. The same disdain toward troops and to get an easy laugh was Kerry's modus in the Vietnam era.
O'Reilly's spin wasn't even hidden.
O'Reilly opened by saying that Kerry's comments were just fine. He then said, "Joining us are Democratic Strategist #1," he had to clear his throat a bit at the next line, "And Democratic Strategist #2." The throat thing proved that even O'Reilly knew this was a blatant set-up. A host who has already announced that he's sided with Kerry and two spokespersons who are both professionally sided with Kerry.
The sad thing is that I knew when I went in to watch O'Reilly that Kerry's disgraceful comment would be dismissed. Don't know why I knew it.
I guess honest discussion can't be handled by Fox's lead commentator. (BTW, is there at least one Fox host who isn't hawking a book? Even Neal Gabler's hawking a book on FoxNews. Maybe Fox needs their camera crew to do a book.)
O'Reilly -- Culture Warrior Light.....no, make that Culture Boy Scout. Not even that works -- no need to bad-mouth the Boy Scouts.
Make it "Culture Frenchie."
LOL.
O'Reilly was a disgrace last night. I watch him regularly, and agree with him a lot.
But, last night gives important insight. O'Reilly's afraid of bucking the New York consensus at critical times.
Culture Frenchie, indeed.
I remember thinking he was the Next Great Thing when I first got Fox News.
Then he started sucking up to the likes of Rosie O'Donnell and he lost me.
I'd hear him emphatically take a position one week and then twice as emphatically change it the next.
I got tired of trying to keep score.
Stopped watching him years ago.
I catch snippets of his show once in a while when hubby's got him on the bedroom TV.
This gut always sits on the fence waiting for the wind to change
Mason Dixon
It was so obvious. Two democratic spokespersons and a guy who said he already buys their explanation.
Can someone show me how that would not end up being a Kerry love fest?
And that's what happened.
Believe it or not, the one Dem strategist ON AIR told him how to run the pictures that would be shown. She said he HAD TO show the video of the Kerry words with the Kerry attack on those who question the Kerry words.
O'Reilly didn't tell her, "I'll run my own show." I think she even repeats it.
I quit after he crapped on the Swiftboat Veterans and defended Rather.
I either watch or listen very regularly.
It's on in the background as I type on Free Republic.
Most often he's innocuous. Every now and then he's bold.
But the guy simply will not buck New York consensus at critical moments like this HUGE Kerry gaffe. The braintrust must've put out an emergency message "COVER FOR KERRY!"
So they all are....and O'Reilly, too.
Good to know which side his bread is ultimately buttered on, though. He's the team mate who despondently gives up in the 4th quarter when it's two minute drill time.
My Confessor makes me watch him during Lent
I hear old Rupert Murdoch is tacking left in anticipation of Saint Hilary being POTUS. I think I heatd that on the Michael Weiner Show. He also noted FOX's declining ratings. I do watch Britt Hume though. There is something likeable about him and I like to drink wine and make fun of Mort Kondracke's "ideas"
LOL!
Wow...that's just cruel.....:-O
If you are saying that he has a battleship mouth and rowboat @ss, I agree with you.
[sports analogies are totally wasted on me...I'm jock-illiterate]...;D
Rowing is athletic -- what passes for jock stuff at Haavahd and Yaaale, anyway. :>)
I hear that Rupert's heir is a flaming liberal.
So, ultimately we're back to hearing only one side.
Sometimes O'Reilly is simply not prepared ~ if he'd listened to Hannity first he'd been able to handle it.
The Estate Tax still kicks in when you have enough money. The Murdock faction will lose control of their operations.
Amen, brother. Thankfully, we've got FR and the internet
Rowing is useful if you're in a jon boat and the crick's movin' a might too slow.....;)
