Only seven more days to demonize San Francisco before Election Day.
Today's offering comes from House Republican Whip Roy Blunt of Ohio who issued a Halloween orange headline atop a release distributed to reporters and Republican voters: Nancy Pelosi's Liberal Shop of Horrors: All Tricks, No Treats for America.
"If Nancy Pelosi is elected Speaker, the American people not only have to fear a liberal San Francisco agenda, but the real concern might be what bills she refuses to allow the House to consider in the first place,'' Blunt says.
"Can the American people trust liberal San Francisco values when it comes to our nation's priorities on immigration reform, tax relief, job creation and homeland security?''
Whether "San Francisco" is code for liberal, gay, yellow, wishy-washy, spineless, weak, lesbian, soft, or cowardly is left to the imagination. It is not meant as a compliment.
It is clear, however, that San Francisco values are not the values of Republican leaders.
Take a look at the following quiz being offered by the National Republican Campaign Committee.
Which Nancy Pelosi quote do you find most disturbing?
A legitimate question for most San Francisco voters would be: Do you find any of the following quotes disturbing?
"And I pride myself in being called a 'liberal', so I'm not dodging that word." (San Francisco Chronicle, 6/9/96)
"Anybody who's ever dealt with me knows not to mess with me." (TIME, 8/27/06)
"Minority Whip Pelosi said the bill [to create a Homeland Security Department] takes a 'giant step backwards'" (CongressDaily, 7/19/02)
"I don't really consider ourselves at war," Pelosi said. "We're in a struggle against terrorism throughout the world..." (Newhouse News Service, 5/6/02)
