Oh, brother. The leftists just can't stand that people have heroes and look up to certain people.

It would have been much better if Rudy had acted like Nagin and gone into hiding when the hurricane hit New Orleans or worried about what he was going to wear on television like LA's governor Blanco. /sarcasm

I'm sure the writer understands that without purchasing hugely expensive satellite phones, there wasn't (and maybe still isn't) a phone in existence that doesn't have coverage issues.

Regardless, I think Rudy is a hero; the way he comported himself in the days after 9/11 will be always fresh in my mind and I personally don't know anyone who doesn't look up to him.

It was a different problem here. The NYPD had radios, the FDNY had radios, but the systems were incompatible and couldn't communicate. Police helicopters had (literally) a bird's-eye view of the progress of the fire and the destruction in the upper stories of the towers, but they couldn't get that information to the firefighters rushing into the building at ground level.

I think that's what it comes down to. You (and quite a few other people) put a great deal of weight on that factor. I respectfully disagree. These are desperate, dangerous times, and we need competence more than comportment.

Straight from the Communist handbook: link

In order to be conquered, a nation must be degraded, either by acts of war, by being overrun, by being forced into humiliating treaties of peace, or by the treatment of her populace under the armies of the conqueror. However, degradation can be accomplished much more insidiously and much more effectively by consistent and continual defamation.

Defamation is the best and foremost weapon of Psychopolitics on the broad field. Continual and constant degradation of national leaders, national institutions, national practices, and national heroes must be systematically carried out, but this is the chief function of the Communist Party Members, in general, not the psychopolitician."

Rudy is right on one or two issues, desperately left (wrong) on ten dozen more. Rudy is as far left as Joe Lieberman. Of course you would think he is a hero.

It is very important in a crisis for a leader to take charge and to remain calm, decisive, and in control. Rudy pulled this off with aplomb and he deserves high praise for doing so--not nitpicking cheap shots and politically driven Monday morning quarterbacking, which is what this book appears to be.

But he doesn't deserve to be president. His social liberal negatives would leave this country, its traditional strengths and families, more broken and damaged than his threadbare crime-busting anti-terror positives would benefit it.

Suffice it to say, Peach, that folks in my area of red state America don't want him in the White House precisely for the reasons you apparently do want him there.

No thanks.
