I'm still chuckling over the dopey SIMPLICITY of the V For Vendetta script. They had to actually SAY that the EVIL Head Chancellor was once a member of the CONSERVATIVE Party. ALL of the bad guys were constantly snarling in a Snidely Whiplash way. Merely owning a Koran meant the government would execute you. Oh, and Lesbian Love would get you thrown in jail to rot away until dead. Of course, the Catholic priest in this movie was a snarling pedophile.

One other thing, it takes DUmmie paranoia and RUNS away with it as to the news being doctored. For example, when you see how the EVIL government times and doctors the news in this flick, you can see how the DUmmies believe the confession of the wacko guy in the JonBenet murder case was really a Rovian plot to divert our attention away from ...whatever. Any DUmmie watching this flick will feel that his complete paranoia is VALIDATED.

The thing that struck me was how UNoppressed the "regular folk" looked. I didn't see anyone forced to worship anything or attend church or tons of poverty. There were people partying in a bar a few times and a family or 2 living a nice middle class life whining just a bit. And yet, here comes this idiot dressed up like some twisted cartoon version of Zorro interrupts their regular programming with a message of revolt and everyone's ready to throw off the chains of oppression (that the movie never made real) and storm the government...riiiiiiiight. Hard to believe this was by the same people who made the Matrix.
