Vanity - What is a Bushbot?

Posted on 08/16/2006 12:41:13 PM PDT by gondramB

I got called a Bushbot again yesterday - its happening more and more. Now this particular person wants machine gun nests set up at the border to kill anyone who crosses and he sees all foreign trade as evil and thinks the President is trying to end U.S. sovereignty and when he calls me a Freeper he means it as a bad thing... So I'm not too worried about his opinion but it got me thinking...

In a lot of ways I'm more conservative than President Bush - I don't think he places enough importance on controlling spending, border security or dealing with existing illegals. I don't think he has vetoed as much as he should have.

Sometimes I differ on what the President thinks is conservative, for example with evolution or privacy - I'm big on science, individual rights and limits on government.

In some areas, like holding the country together after 9/11 and dealing with Afghanistan, judicial appointments, trade and opposing abortion Presient Bush has done a great job - not perfect but no President is perfect.

I don't think we went into Iraq at the right time in the right way. I don't bring this up much because we are at war now - there is nothing to be gained by complaining about how we went into Iraq - we are there and it needs to be a national effort to see the job through, support our troops and leave a stable Iraq that isn't a threat.

I'm starting to think that a Bushbot is a conservative who, even though he sometimes disagrees with the President continues to support our commander in chief in time of war and who is darn glad he's the President instead of Kerry.

I guess there are worse things to be called.

That's a Patsie. If he/she begs you for money to fix the problem, that's a Keyster (Alan Keyes supporter).

it was about Arabs handling the containers that come into our ports.

Oh, my bad then.

Just managing the containers, not the actual ships.

Gee, Where's the problem with that?

>>You might be a Bushbot if:

You support "Comprehensive" Immigration Reform before securing our borders...

You supported Arabs controlling American ports.

You supported Harriet Miers for the Supreme Court.<<

TC, I hope you don't mind me combining your posts for one response. It happens that my responses

1. Secure the borders first and foremost
2. Recognizing that other U.S. ports operations have already been sold and the same company manages ports in other countries that ship here so the question is not a trivial yes or no.
3. Trusting the President on Miers even though she wasn't my first pick

So I'm 1-1-1. Should someone say - aha - you suported the President on Miers so you are no longer a conserative but instead a robot taking order?

It just seems to be the situation is too complex to judge on a single appointment. Or do you take the harder road of looking at broad patterns?

Wideawake >>Bushbot is what Teddy Rooselvelt would have called a weael {weasal} word - a meaningless word meant to suck the meaning out of the words surrounding it.<<

That's pretty close to my gut reaction on how the word is often used but I wanted to hear from other Freepers.

Weegee "Don't suffer from "friendly fire". Some could be trolls fragging the FReepers."

I'm sure you are right. But I know many conservatives are genuinely frustrated and/or concerned so I don't want to minimize that.

A Bushbot robotically supports the President even when he does stupid things; and yes, the President has done some stupid things while in office. For example, a Bushbot might have vehemently opposed the McCain-Feingold Bill while it was being debated, but turned into a true-blue supporter of campaign finance reform once Bush signed that turkey. Or they may have opposed amnesty for illegal aliens... until Bush supported it.

On the other hand, Bushbots should not be mistaken for those who make realpolitik decisions. Such a person might oppose a particular Bush policy, but voices support for the President because they see him as a vehicle to achieve their long term political goals.

>>To many people who use the term it means anyone more conservative then they would like. Senator Lieberman is now being called a bushbot, because he is running as an Independent.<<

Good point. I was only considering the word's usage by conservatives but its also used by liberals to describe Democrats who are not extreme enough.

Me: "Now this particular person wants machine gun nests set up at the border to kill anyone who crosses and he sees all foreign trade as evil and thinks the President is trying to end U.S. sovereignty"

My2Cents: "You've been talking to Pat Buchanan?"

Thanks for that - first smile I've had since I started thinking about this. But, no it was an ex-Freeper.

A Bushbot is a kind of gas powered robot that trims hedges, you can get them at Home Depot.

Loew's has a similar device with a different name but it runs off
electricity and can foul it's own cord, I don't recommend it.

Trisham: My impression is that the Left defines a "Bushbot" as anyone who doesn't believe that President Bush should be impeached and sentenced to life behind bars.

-------

I realize now when I posted the vanity I only considered conservative usage - but you are right - its used all the time by liberals too.

A Bushbot is someone who's right 90% of the time. Not bad, IMHO.

You might be a moron if thought that there ever was a chance that Arabs were ever going to control US ports, and if you bought into the MSM's idiotic hysteria over nothing.

There have been several issues where Conservative Republicans have not agreed with The President.

A little infighting or disagreements among Republicans is one that distinguishes us from the other party.

Come Nov. I'd be voting one time (straight party) but I've got to figure out who to write-in or dial-in for Tom Delay.

A Bushbot is a mythical creature who dwells on the internet, has poor sleep habits, bad breath, is socially objectionable, lacks originality or insight. He is characterized by slavish admiration for all things W and willingly believes and ratifies the fruits of the Cheney-Rove-Libby cabal.

Bushbots are the creation of people who fail to understand that politics is the art of the possible, or that close battles are won on the margins. They cannot comprehend that character counts more than glibness; that smooth words more often conceal evil than reveal virtue.

Not the ports fool! ...just the containers!

Name-calling.... That doesn't make up for your lack of intelligence.

Did I hit a nerve or something? Geezzzz
