I was pretty happy when the power came back on last night, saving me from trying to sleep with no AC in midwestern August temps.

I did a newspaper history article recently on the heat wave of '31. It killed 1,013 people. That's life in the Midwest without AC. [SHUDDER!]

I wasn't alive in 1931 but I spent the 50s in north Texas with no AC. So I'm a pretty tough old lady.
